I assume that the people that would randomly run a .exe and enter their CD

Im not picking on anybody specifically, but the object is not to pick on
somebody just cuz they can beat you royally, but to catch them using
hacks or cheats that make it unfair for the gaming community in general.

These people achieve NOTHING, they only have illusions of graneur
and really are low in life any way they can be.
Whats so hard about just making bots on a single player mode that are super
easy if you feel you must be all that and a bag of chips when you are
really not?

The problem with ban lists like this is that sooner or later it will be
abused. Not all server admins are honest and ethical. So, I'm playing
today,
and this kid keeps beating me. He/she isn't cheating, they are just better
then me. Since I run a server too, I'll just add this person to the global
 ban list bwahahahaha

I'm not saying this is a bad idea, but how would you prevent this sort of
thing from happening? There needs to be some way to trust those that add
steam IDs to the list, and/or some way to verify that the people on the
list
 really deserve to be there.

I would like a general public banlist, aside from VAC, that admins can
download, and add to. Maybe a program that scans your banlist, uploads
the
new ones to and online database, then downloads the newly compiled
banlist
each night? I think that would work well.

For the life of me I cannot seem to kick or ban anyone unless I go
through the process of typing out there name. Since steam ids are not
showing up through status and kicking by userid doesnt seem to work, it
is the only solution. Also, when attempting to name kick using rcon, if
the individual uses the ` in their name you cannot do it since it will
 close the console.

For the same price as the Xeon 3GHz we'd only be able to get 1.8GHz

suspect with Opteron we'd be paying a premium just for 64-bit, and not

u have to make an addons folder in the cstrike folder, put the metamod
folder in the addons folder, then you to change your liblist.gam in your
cstrike
folder to point to metamod.dll .
 gamedll addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll
 ;gamedll dlls\mp.dll
In the amx folder look for plugini.ini and put this(not
plugins\plugins.ini
 thats for additional plugins,glow...ect.)
 ; AMX
 win32 addons/amx/dlls/amx_mm.dll
 got it?

Yes service pack 4 did address as I recall one tiny issue with HT.
win2k however does not take advantage of HT reguardless. I think someone
mentioned that it didn't 'support' it, what they meant was it didn't take
advantage of it, not that there were problems with in on win2k.

Not sure really why we're talking about this as HT doesn't help hlds much
if
at all, infact there was some discussion last year on this list that
seemed
to indicate it hurt more then helped. (now if your running hlds and many
other items on the box..yeah it might help you.)

btw intel does not go around telling people to disable HT on win2k boxes,
that's not to say however that in same rare cases it can be benificial,
such
 as dedicated gaming server systems.

I thought this was addressed in one of the service packs. Why anyone
would want to run hyperthreading for gameservers is a mystery to me.

Intel says to disable HT if u run w2k. There are know issues. The code
 IS
not optimized for HT ... HT did not exist when w2k was written.
I had problems with my new dell server running w2k and Dell told me to
 disable.

In Greg's post it didn't state if Win2kPro supported HT. Does it?

nope, 2k does not support hyperthreading
Yes it does, but you would require a version licensed for more
  processors
 than would make sense
  comparing cost to performance.

as for whoever said xp for win servers, i would like u to send me
   some
 of
that fine jamacian weed you're smoking, cuz im out at the moment.
You have no clue what you are talking about, get your knowledge to a
 reasonable level, and point out
the facts on which you build your above statement. If not, quit
  insulting
 people by being
better-knowing when in fact you are immensely wrong!

Stick with Greg's post, as he is right, and everybody stating anything
 else is wrong! Obviously
somebody denies the facts in this thread.

For my part, it's closed, he's questions have been answered, and again
this has gone way too far off
  original topic!

Sharza
