When this happens, (and it's fairly often), the map will have to be
reloaded as a round reset wont fix it.
I've set my server to force a level change every 60 minutes to deal with
this somewhat.

A lot of gamedata changed in the update prior to the last one.
Upload the gamedata from one of the latest 1.4.* snapshots to your server
and restart it.

If you run any plugins/extensions that use custom gamedata it may need to
be updated as well.

Why is it every update people go "Command aborted??? is something wrong???"
like its something new?
The content servers are busy updating all the clients and aren't allowing
servers to get the updates. Ether auto-update your servers the second an
update is released, or do it after the rush ends.

The *correct* way (if the map is made properly) is to pack the sound into

Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Released

2011-07-07 Thread DarthNinja
As I've said before, there need to be priority levels for the content
servers:
Servers before clients. Paid clients before free clients. <- this last only
applies to TF2, but still.
And before the "clients make Valve money, servers don't" argument comes up,
I'd like to point out that without updated servers, clients won't have very
much to do ingame.

[hlds] TF2 servers freeze and stay offline

2011-07-02 Thread DarthNinja
I'm having a problem fairly frequently with all my windows servers: After
applying the summer update I've been seeing crashes/freezes where the server
goes offline and stays down until manually restarted.
I've run the optional update several times, reuploaded the latest (as of
last night) MM snapshot, and reuploaded the latest SM release (I was using a
snapshot).

Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it?

Subject: [hlds] Killing Floor Twisted Christmas and TF2 Tie-In Heads Up

 To all server admins,

For those of you that don't know Tripwire Interactive are running a
 special
event starting tomorrow (December 14th) called the Killing Floor Twisted
 Christmas - http://www.killingfloorthegame.com/xmas/. This event
 replaces
all of the monsters in game with Christmas themed monsters, adds an all
 new
level - Santa's Evil Lair, has a bunch of new achievements including
 some
specifically for the Twisted Christmas event, and features a tie-in with
 TF2
where TF2/KF owners/purchases get the Pyro as a playable character in KF
 and
a special KF themed item in TF2.

With all of the buzz and interest surrounding this time limited event (
December 14th - January 4th ) we expect a massive influx of both
 returning
Killing Floor players that wish to experience the special event, as well
 as
new players wishing to experience the game for the first time. As such I
have a couple of requests for the server admin community:

 1) If anyone is willing to put up some extra servers for the
 duration
of this event that would be extremely helpful. There are currently about
1100 Killing Floor servers, which will support about 6600 concurrent
 players
( 6 players is the max on standard KF servers). We expect the peak
concurrent players to be in the 10,000-20,000 range, which means it will
take another 1000-2000 servers to handle this demand. On the bright
 side,
 we
expect a lot of these players will stick around after the event, which
 is
potential customers for you GSP's :-)

 2) With the massive influx of new players, I would request that
 anyone
adminning a group of KF servers to please set 35-50% of them to the
 Normal
difficulty. This will help ensure that the new players will have a place
 to
try the game where they won't get their face eaten off.

 3) Please make sure the new Santa's Evil Lair map is in your map
rotation, as this is the map EVERYONE will be dieing to try.

 Additionally, we will be

Lately my players have been noticing that their consoles are complaining
about the "cl_radar_locked" cvar, which from what I understand is a CS:S
cvar. (This issue is cropping up in TF2)
Anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, I tried using "asw_camera_shake 0" last night and none of my players
had the camera lag, so yay for that.
The facehugger level still needs some balancing imo. It's almost impossible
to get through on hard, so I'm not sure impossible is even, err, possible.

Re: [hlds] Alien Swarm is now available

2010-07-20 Thread DarthNinja
Just wanted to report a very annoying bug to you guys:

Bug:
Player's camera spins out of control

Steps:
Load up the parasite level on hard (seems to show up every time on hard, not
sure about other settings).
Play as a client (this does not happen to the game's host).
At some points when attacked, your camera will spin out of control, also
preventing you from shooting.

Notes:
I've been seeing this on listen servers, I have not played on a dedicated
one yet.

Thanks!

[hlds] Huntsman arrows will not ignite

2010-06-26 Thread DarthNinja
Ok so here's a question;
On my one TF2 server, Pyros can not ignite the arrows of friendly huntsman
snipers.
It's been this way for a while now, (last 2+ updates), it stays like that
even after restarts/etc. Now I do run SourceMod and a number of mods, but I
haven't had a chance to debug everything as yet.

So, has anyone encountered this bug before, and/or know how to fix it?

2010-05-27 Thread DarthNinja
Down for 15 min, still nothing.
Should be Server>Client because without servers the clients cant play.

Does anyone else think that server ranking points lost on update days should
be refunded?
If I run an update I could potentially lose 1,440 points.

I've noticed that on my server, in HLSW.
It'll read 1 player when there are no players connected. Also shows 1
player in steam's server info, but no name obv.
