Re: [hlds] Release pending

2005-06-07 Thread Matthew Welch
Wait for the release and stop asking questions till you know the
details. Positing a bunch of unnecessary questions about possible
updates isn't helpful. The knowledge will be revealed in only a few
hours. Patience.

OMGHL1 release? I'm assuming this will affect OP4 servers? Are there any
release notes anywhere? And is this a mandatory release IE my server won't
work (or players won't be able to join) until the release is applied?

There will be an update for HL1 based games in the next few hours.

Re: [hlds] srcds.exe - Application Error

2005-06-01 Thread Matthew Welch
Are you running custom maps? When I was experimenting with bots and
custom maps, I found that around a third of the custom maps would
crash the server. I'm not sure if it was the same error but it was
very similar to the one posted.

Re: [hlds] Force demo playback?

Clayton, you are demonstrating the differeneces between a dictating
autocracy and a just democracy. Some people like not being a prick,
which of course you are excluded.

the point is, if YOU are satisfied that someone is cheating why isn't

complaining about getting banned. You were banned for a reason, so go
away kid, ya bother me. As if you need to justify yourself to anyone.
Like I said, how can you not understand, they are your servers, you
have the right to ban anyone at will for any reason. When you see
proof of someone cheating, that's not enough for you? shrug.

Did you read the whole mail, and see my suggestion?
Two people posted and told you they need this archive to justify bans, not
to see them over and over by them self. Why cant you either listen, or just
stop posting, when all you do is write the same thing over and over again.
We actually come with suggestions and explanations to why this is a problem.
You keep saying that we should just ban them and get over with it. That is
  not a solution.
At least in my screwed up points of view.

After you know they're cheating, you ban. It's really quite simple. Do you
really need to view the demo over and over and over every day for a year to
remind yourself that he really was cheating and you did the right thing by
banning him? Somehow I doubt it. Once you've viewed it and it's been proven
to your satisfaction that he was cheating, I don't see why that's not the
  end of the story.

How is spelling out the situation for him provoking him? heh. I don't work
at Valve. I'm not the one that fixes bugs and/or makes changes to the
protocol. The fact that I tell him that this is what's done is provoking
him? Heh. He's a child, acting like a child, or both. That's got nothing to
do with me. You've both got really screwed up points of view as to what you
think is happening and what is really happening...

I'm not sure how it works with CS:S but in 1.6 we have the possibility

   options.

Maybe Valve would be kind enough to tell us what files we can backup
to be able to see the demos even after the netcode is changed. So that
those who wants to see old demos, can do so.

   Whisper is so right.
Some people do things the right way. Not just ignorantly ban people
because they are without rights to play on your server.

   PS:
And i understand why he starts to use language when so many of you
provoke him so bad. If Alfred is to take action towards Whisper, I
would want actions to be taken against Clayton as well.
He is doing things much worse.

The aliasreadme.html in the cfg/autoscript folder says the script was
authored by SxRxRnR and his e-mail is sxrxrnr (at)
counter-script.nethttp://counter-script.net.
http://www.counter-script.net is also mentioned a couple times.

 The utility is called srcdsfpsbooster.
You can download it from http://www.noclans.com/downloads.htm

I still do not know who the C programmer is that wrote and compiled
 this
  jewel.
It only has a few lines of code and does the trick to unlock the
 fps.
And does so without any extra baggage.
If anyone know who the author is then tell me so I can put it in a
  readme with the file.

This is a big problem!!! When I play with bots on my server, it works for
the starting map but once the second map is loaded, no one can join a team
because the server says the teams are full. None the of the bots can join
any of the teams either. I think this is a serious bug from the last patch.

It seems that after the initial map change the server no longer
  accepts
new players, in fact it gives server full messages when i try to add
bots and players can only connect as spectators.

first map after startup is fine. it's after the map changes that the
problems start to occur. anyone else experience the same problem?
