RE: [hlds] svc_bad error

It a right pain this problem. We are often experiencing everyone being
dropped off servers. I think its client 57 problem re-badged or something
:(

I think in mapcycle.txt you can also have a line like

mapname "\mp_timelimit\30"

[hlds] BAD: 46:svc_bad / HLDS problem

We've been experiencing these for the past few weeks on our 30 player
server. I half suspect it's since the recent hlds update and is related to
the 8 August update:

Fixed S2C_CONNREJECT packet exploit causing the game to quit from any
currently connected game server (found by Gavin Cotter)

The problem also looks like it's the dreaded Client 57 Error re-badged.
Below is console output. When the error happens you usually see a few
people drop from the server. Like Client 57 there is nothing in the server
logs except player disconnected.

Yes I know this is TFC and Valve don't touch it (not since 2003 anyway), but
as its possibly a generic HLDS associated problem and assume also present in
the beloved Counter-strike is there anyway they would be kind enough to look
into it, as it is annoying constantly losing half your players from your
server and you can't give them a reason for it.

Thanks

RE: [hlds] Has VALVe abandoned TFC for good?

2005-08-04 Thread Steve Pemberton
Seems like it. Shame that prior to abandonment they couldn't have at least
fixed some of the problems that got introduced with its move over to Steam,
as well as all the other many problems which never got resolved pre Steam.
A lot of the TFC players seem to have now moved onto BF2 or awaiting
Fortress Forever Mod.

[hlds] TFC Client 57 error

2005-07-31 Thread Steve Pemberton
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Does anyone have any knowledge of what this error is? We experience it
quite regularly on our 30 player server where by it just mass kicks the
majority of players from the server, and they see a client 57 error.

Server wise, all you tend to see is something like:

L 07/31/2005 - 13:26:37: "Player<3203><#Dustbowl_team1>"
disconnected

Regards
