Re: [hlds] [hlds_announce] New SteamID format for TF2
I highly doubt it was an intended change, as much as the Mac OS X and Linux HTML MOTD's being unstable as well (which I see Valve have just chosen to disable in a patch the Steam client downloaded just a moment ago). " that opens a new window" - that sounds like an intentional change to possibly prevent exploits and such. Any possibility Valve will fix the currently bugged HTML MOTD since the update? Links or anything else that opens a new window is now broken since it was changed to share with the Steam browser control :(. I'd assume it is to a line with the new Steam gameserver accounts since they use A: for anonymous, G: for registered and the U: for steam clients. Make sense really just poorly implemented. -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Dominik Friedrichs Sent: 22 August 2014 17:22 To: CSGO Clan; Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] [hlds_announce] New SteamID format for TF2 On 2014/08/22 17:59, CSGO Clan wrote: > Hi, what was the reason for this change and is this going to happen > for other games also? 1. Hi, what was the reason for this change and is this going to happen for other games also? From: Eric Smith To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list ; "'hlds_li...@list.valvesoftware.com'" ; "'hlds_annou...@list.valvesoftware.com'" Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2014 7:41:49 PM Subject: [hlds_announce] New SteamID format for TF2 We apologize for the lack of warning regarding the SteamID format change in today's update. It was our intent to give the community a heads-up before the change was released, but it was missed. The change was made to update TF2 to use the current SteamID format, which most other games on Steam and Steam itself uses. You will find that you can now use SteamIDs rendered by these other locations in your interactions with the engine. The engine will still recognize the old format, though, so your current server ban lists should still be valid. The conversion equation has already been posted by a community member, but here it is again: Old: STEAM_0:A:B New: [U:1:B*2+A] Example: STEAM_0:1:1234 ---> [U:1:2469] We're sorry for the problems this may cause while you update your scripts to use the new format. It was not our intent to disrupt your servers. -Eric ___ hlds_announce mailing list hlds_annou...@list.valvesoftware.com https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds_announce___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds
