I noticed one odd thing while downloading appid 232250 (tf2 SteamPipe server) , as shown in the last 3 lines of my download: App state (0x300502) downloading, progress: 99.82 (4600426818 / 4608717724) App state (0x400502) committing, progress: 100.00 (2108980752 / 2108980752) Success! App '232250' fully installed. Why are the committing numbers smaller than the downloading numbers? The downloading numbers are clearly related to the file size in bytes: tf2@powerlord:~$ du -bs tf2 4608894227 tf2 but what are the committing numbers related to? The server is indeed available for download if anybody wants to start the download now. However, we're still working on getting the client beta configured, so there isn't a client yet that is compatible with it. We'll let the list know when it's available and you can actually test things. It seems likely that the TF2 switchover planned for next Tuesday will be delayed. We want to make sure people have plenty of time to get setup and test against the official client.
