Upon further investigation, it seems if the server is running version 28 (or lower?) of HL2MP, that the players will be correctly colored in chat, however, color doesn't work in the newest version (29). RE: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch update released
I know 2 things that truly need fixing with the Spectator Mode: 1. Player name not showing, at least one player will not have his name from the scoreboard show while being spectated, 2. When viewing a demo recorded from 1st person in spectator mode the player name is not displayed, there needs to be a "Following "Player". Makes it time consuming and often very difficult when you are reviewing demo's of suspected cheaters, Admins have enough on their plates, without wasting more time. The other bug that I find ridiculously annoying is how the game will minimise if you have dual [or more] monitor setup and select the secondary monitor. The game should not minimise unless I select it to minimise, I need to use webpages, mirc, databases, etc while admin'ing the servers and don't need the game to minimise causing me to waste time waiting for it to maximise. I hope Alfred can get these bugs to the DEV guys for sooner rather than later fixing. Re: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch update released
woohoo!, works awesome, thank you! typing "spectate" means typing in console (so an alias of jointeam 1) you have to type jointeam 0 in console to get out of spectate mode. One thing, players can join, and play then on the fly switch into spectate, go look at where other players are, then switch back and continue playing which is ... questionable. - Original Message - From: "Jason Ruymen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: ; Sent: Thursday, July 27, 2006 10:43 PM Subject: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch update released An update to Half-Life 2: Deathmatch has been released. Re: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Update
I feel his pain :). At least a word from Alfred saying they are working on the spiralling cpu and crashing problem may go a small way to reassuring people. At the moment we don't run any, just as its not worth risking the game zipping up to 100% cpu even when empty and affecting anything else you may want to run. We'd run several servers if it wasnt for that, but it is annoying to see whats probably the main problem with the game just always bypassed over as though it doesnt exist. Just a word of confirmation you are working on the crashing/cpu spiral problem would be nice Alfred to give us hope :). We? All three of my servers Oh I see. Your three servers and their inability to run a map represent us all now is it? Re: [SPAM] Re: [hlds] Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Update
There are other games with dedicated servers out there. For instance, you should try FarCry out. No update headaches there. Why there are no updates at all! Never will be! And you can run what, one FC server per host without smashing the CPU? lol As always, those who can write a better game can complain but we all prefer you deliver the great game to end all games over the usless flames. Also, I'm not sure this was a mandatory update. Reading the news can help the admin decide whether or not to patch. Even your mappers can't even double check their quality before releasing something! After 3 months, no bug fixes...the HL2 community could care less about new maps, most of which are not worth running anyway. Many of us are just about done running servers for this screwed up game. For Pete's sakenow you force us server admins to do two updates because you think we want yet another lame ass map that lags and crashes the servers, and that we never wanted in the first place?
