Hey Ned, there is a nice and free application that allows you to get
a short version of a long link which can sometimes break on new line.
You can get
it at http://tinyurl.com

That long Steam Forum link now becomes: http://tinyurl.com/82wmk

Thanks for your information btw!

Just an FYI for you guys. With the supprt site, the only variable you
really need is the p_faqid. So that monstrosity above becomes:

http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/st
d_adp.php?p_faqid=108

The rest of the parameters are session and search information.

I everything is running correctly, then how much upload bandwidth do you
have?
Depending on game, tickrate and other factors you need some where
between 35kbs to
53kbs upload rate per player on the server. Here is a steam page on
server tweaking.

Also check how much cpu and ram you are using, you maybe maxing out as
the server fills. Dropping the Linux
virtual server and using the windows version will help this.

Re: [hlds] Re: Windows 2003 HLDS install problem.

2005-06-25 Thread Andrew Armstrong

My guess is because you are running an emulation (already slow) ontop of
another emulation later, everything the gameserver is trying to do is taking
3 times as long because it has to traverse up two layers of emulation before
its processed, if you catch my drift.

Ditch the emulation if possible.
