RE: [hlds_linux] init3
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Linux console :) Hrmm, on a side note, I'm using MS Outlook, and it flags 'Linux' as a misspelled word :) Mike Miller ICQ:30705948 War Ensemble Online (war-ensemble.com) War Ensemble BBS(telnet://bbs.war-ensemble.com) > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:hlds_linux- > [EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of lastshooter > Sent: Sunday, December 01, 2002 2:32 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] init3 > > Thanks, Alt F2 did the trick, and shutdown -h now sounds a lot easier than > going startX, $display icewm linuxconf int5 and then shutdown, lol > - Original Message - > From: "Florian Zschocke" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Sunday, December 01, 2002 5:04 AM > Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] init3 > > > > lastshooter wrote: > > > > > > errrnow that I can run my server without x, how do I access > another > > > terminal, say to run "free"? > > > > From the console? Thanks, Alt F2 did the trick, and shutdown -h now sounds a lot easier than going startX, $display icewm linuxconf int5 and then shutdown, lol - Original Message - From: "Florian Zschocke" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, December 01, 2002 5:04 AM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] init3 > lastshooter wrote: > > > > errrnow that I can run my server without x, how do I access another > > terminal, say to run "free"? > > From the console? From the console? Most Linux distros come with six or more consoles enabled. You can switch between them with Alt-F1 to Alt-F6. I believe it's Ctrl-Alt-F1 etc. ALT-x (Where X is the console identifier) is for switching between text consoles outside of X. If you are in X, CTRL-ALT-x (where X is the console identifier) is required to switch out of X and back to the text console.
