Yea it's been like this for the last month or so. They beat hlguard and CD

the poor mod that doesn't even have VAC, like the original HLDM or OP4.

Unfortunately the last thread on cheating degenerated in a discussion about
connection prices $^#%#%. Few here actually seem to care about cheaters
and how they are destroying the game. I guess thats why valve can get away

What do you consider due time? Its been 7 weeks since a VAC release to
catch any sort of cheat? I'd like to know what you think is reasonable,
especially since VAC will release an update, be hacked in a week and then
we're all sitting around on our hands waiting for the next VAC release in a
couple of months.

Re: [hlds_linux] [UA] PRESS RELEASE: UA Acquires Cheating-Death

2002-12-27 Thread HoundDawg
CD is primarily a client-side anti-cheat. There really isn't much on the
server-side except for the authorization system. As you all know, HLG is
purely server-side. We're looking into the possibility of just integrating
CD's authorization system into HLG and then having the CD client become an
optional HLG client (optional or required defined by the server admin).

Currently, we're working on some solutions that can be integrated directly
into MODs themselves. Naturally, this would only work with non-VALVe MODs
as we don't see VALVe working our solution into their MODs anytime soon.
But, it would provide a good solution for those others that are still in the
dark without a flashlight or even a match. =\

Once we have something solid, we'll be contacting a few prominant MOD
developers on giving this a go. From what I understand, FireArms is ready
to work with us on some solutions to the cheating there. Hopefully, other
mods like Natural Selection will too.

Yes, heaven forbid we discuss anything other than cheaters on this list
(hlds_h4x0r list?). We clamor on about the cheaters and the cheating
and the horrible state of the world in which we live, but in the end,
what can we do? Can we hold a blade to Valve's throat and demand
action? When did Valve get away with anything? Are you so unaware
that you think maybe integrating VAC into every officially supported
mod is easy, that it wouldn't be a rather large undertaking to put out a
complete client release every time they come up with a major update for
VAC? Are you insinuating that Valve doesn't have the slightest
inclination to support their product--one that continues to sell,
utilizing a bed of beta testers of the magnitude that few outside
Redmond ever get the chance to even imagine?

Whether they just can't cut it, I don't know, but I certainly doubt it's
for lack of caring.
