RE: [hlds_linux] Broken Mods?

2003-09-20 Thread Adam Hobbs
There is a version of wc3 that has been writen for 0.9.6 that should run
with cs 1.6. Check the released plugins forum on amxmod.net

Latest metamod works fine

HLGuard - don't know yet but check the united admins site

Adminmod is steam compatible from what I've read, but why runit when AMX
does everything it does...only better (IMHO of course)

Stats me: see hlguard. Its a UA project. HLstats has been updated to work
with steam so you may be lucky with the other UA projects

[hlds_linux] Broken Mods?

2003-09-20 Thread SBlaze
I'm new to the mailing list so please don't flame me. I'm currious as to what
seems to be broken in the way of mods for CS 1.6 right now.

On my old CS 1.5 server I ran Metamod 1.16.2, AMX Mod 0.9x(Warcraft 3 and
FirstBlood) HL Guard 1.5x, StatsMe and AdminMod.

Since I run the newer 1.6 now I'm sure there are some compatability issues. Can
anyone bring me up to date on the status on one, some, or all of these. As I
said I'm fairly new to the list so I'm sure I'm asking for old news. I really
would like to run StatsMe and the AMX mods. I would like to use Adminmod as
well...but how does that work now? Before I just used a shortcut on my desktop
to load my cfg to give me admin access. With steam is that even remotely
possible

I appreciate anything anyone can tell me.

Thanks

Does running multiple servers from the same directory still work the
same w/ 1.6?

IE,

/usr/bin/screen -A -m -d -S cs1 /usr/local/games/hlds_l/hlds_run -game
cstrike
+ip 64.191.10.205 +maxplayers 14 +servercfgfile server1.cfg
+mapcyclefile mapcyc
le1.txt +motdfile motd1.txt +logsdir logs1 +map de_dust

Will servercfgfile, mapcyclefile, etc still work.

Just thinking ahead once I get 1.6 dl'd.

Many server admins have a reserved slot system going on to allow only
admins connect into the final spot on the server.

Valve nicely added sv_visiblemaxplayers to allow us to hide that
reserved slot, but with the current system it can't be done.

When people connect to a server they have a pending Steam ID, and their
real ID is not assigned until a few seconds later. This means the only
way of having reserved slots working is by allowing people to join the
server then waiting to check.

The major problem with this 99% of people joining on the last slot won't
be admins and get kicked, which is rather rude IMO.

Wouldn't a system where the ID is assigned before people join the server
be better for situations, or even Valve supporting reserved slots
directly. I only have a mod on for reserved slots, so perhaps this is a
feature that should be supported directly.

I've added a new field into the sql tables called banid which is used
as the primary key (it used to use the wonid). The only other change
really was modifying all instances of won to steam. I added a Changelog
file also.

Works fine here, so give it a bash. I don't claim to be fluent in php or
sql at all so any problems I'll try and see wots happening...

Original Author was a one Simon Garner of this list I believe. All credit

heh, are you on crack?
tulip on 2.4.9 doesn't even work properly without a patch, and in 2.6, the

while 3com just works-every-time, even isa-3coms work flawless as long as you
manually set them to use rj45 instead of bnc/coax.

Re: [hlds_linux] centralised sql banlist/admin list

2003-09-20 Thread john
That looks quite nice, but a little overkill perhaps for people who just
want the banning distribution system + web front end like myself. I've
settled for sbs which I've added steam support into and also some user
management via sql and session control although I don't know how good a
solution it is currently (im thinking my code is dodgy :)

Also using an nfs export to share the ban list which gets copied to each
server every 10mins. I suppose I should add some kkrcon controls in it so when
bans are placed they actually get banid'd on the server too.

Please explain these two diametrically opposed statements.
No CPU usage reporting system is perfect, I don't see

Yes, I'm "touting" my own horn. *sigh* Except that what you said was
NOT that "No CPU usage reporting system is perfect." You said "It's an
established fact that windows can be very inaccurate when reporting CPU
usage." The point was that when he presented to you the fact that
running with the kind of low CPU usage that he was seeing with 2.4.9 was
not only *possible* in Win32, but that it did, in fact, directly
correlated with the numbers he was seeing, showing that it *IS* indeed
possible. However, you fire back that Win32 CPU reporting "can be very
inaccurate", which means that you don't trust *IT*, either. The problem
is, nobody else has seen whatever it is that you've seen to create your
inherent distrust of 2.4.9 and Win32.
Instead you put words in my mouth that I never said and
start up an argument that you want me to now prove that
Windows CPU usage isn't perfect.
Hahaha...backpeddle much?

with 16 people playing
in spike there is 70% CPU utilization

on the same server cs1.6 de_dust2 with 16 people max 30%

i'm lame in map creating but i think that, really small map as iceworld
cannot do so much load
maybe this is due to the original map -> de_vegas

what are you thinking?

do you have a source .map file for fy_iceworld somebody?
