Hi, I've just installed the latest version of hlds on my brand new
machine (Redhat 9 Linux) AMD64 2.2ghz

When I run the server im getting the error message:-

-sh-2.05b$ ./hlds_run -game cstrike -debug
Auto detecting CPU
Using AMD-Opteron (64 bit) Optimised binary.
Enabling debug mode
Auto-restarting the server on crash
./hlds_run: line 359: ./hlds_amd64: cannot execute binary file
cat: hlds.11932.pid: No such file or directory
email debug.log to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Have I done something wrong?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Richy

If "this guy" (me) had it configured wrong and had BLOCKED the message,
then how did I get it? He'd be able to connect to our mail server
directly without any problems.

RE: [hlds_linux] Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer

2004-03-06 Thread admin
I do that too. Cause otherwise I have to have a crapload of steam accts.
Steam wont let you use the same acct more than once or one of em craps out.
I dont like getting surprises dropped on me when steam comes out and F*'s
everything up.

Also - autoupdate allows your users to use 'rcon quit' to restart their
servers.

So you update manualy but uses -autoupdate? what is the point?
Steam tries to download a new version because version information
probably is stored in ~/.steam/ClientRegistry.blob
Just remove the -autoupdate if you are updating with .tgzs :)

Exactly. If you want reliable communication, use a phone :)

SMTP is fucked - the protocol relies on trust and things being done
correctly - of which humans are terrible at both, thats why we have
spammers. It was intented during a time where the only people using
the Internet were universities and scientists.

Sending and recieving a message and knowing it will get to it's
destination without failure is an essential part of the Internet.

I wonder what will replace SMTP.

Hi.

Since I showed my (old-styled) graphs I got alot of mail from persons asking
how I did it and if I would share my work. I have reworked it and now feel
like it is a bit more mature to be publicly available.
Still consider it as beta software.

A example graph:
http://hemma.hos.joakim.gissberg.nu/~tajson/cs-12h.png

If you are interested, you can now grab the tools from my homepage
(http://joakim.gissberg.nu/) that is needed to do a graph like that.

It is:
  1) "Rcon", a tool I made to execute rcon commands remotly and display on
 local screen.
  2) "cs_stats", a bash script for gluing Rcon and RRDtool togheter.

You also need RRDtool installed.

I am also planing on including some vars in the graph that can be of
interest, like CPU model, kernel version, fps_max, sys_ticrate.

Feedback is appreciated!

What are the recommended server specs for the upcoming HL2 release(counter-strike)?
Is hyper-threading supported? AMD or Intel. Video card on server should it be beefy (
I don't think that would matter but didn't hurt to ask) . I used to run a server and
stopped it about a year ago. I am getting ready to collocate a box again and am
looking for spec. I will be using Gentoo as the distro.
Anyone have a official answer on the Linux dedicated server specs.

probably the safest bet would be an opteron box... although it would be
interesting to know if the current gentoo amd64 can run the valve amd64
binaries correctly. I would think so... but.
