[hlds_linux] Server not showing up in the Server list ...
Hey all, just wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions why my server seemed to drop off the Internet Server list. I have verified from a number of my regulars they can not find it under this list but they can add it as a favorite and it pings as good as the top 3 under the Internet server list. Why would that be? sv_region is set to 255 (I'm from Canada, aye) We have been on the Net for many many years but for the past couple of months (yeah I know, I'm just getting around to figuring this out now) our traffic has basically disappeared. I have checked several points on the Net (mostly west coast USA and praire provinces) and we ping great from the major residential carriers (Shaw via BigPipe and Telus). Any suggestions? Oh, ip to the server is 139.142.185.228. RE: [hlds_linux] res file problem
Yeah. There is a res file maker on the United Admins website. You can have it do .res files for all maps in a directory easy. ~ > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:hlds_linux- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sebastian > Sent: Monday, March 08, 2004 9:25 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [hlds_linux] res file problem > > we have a lot of maps on our server and quite a few maps do not have res > files. i guess the map makers are getting lazy and most aren't creating > the > res files to go along with the maps. > > because of this a lot of our players are getting disconnected due to > missing > files. wads, tga's, etc.. my question is: isn't the server suppose to send > the files even though there is no res file for the map? [hlds_linux] res file problem
we have a lot of maps on our server and quite a few maps do not have res files. i guess the map makers are getting lazy and most aren't creating the res files to go along with the maps. because of this a lot of our players are getting disconnected due to missing files. wads, tga's, etc.. my question is: isn't the server suppose to send the files even though there is no res file for the map? I think its sucks to drop the client because the server doesn't send them the files. are there any work arounds for this, besides making res files for 300+ maps by hand? hell, i don't even know what map have missing res and which files go along with the map for that matter. any solutions? ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

[hlds_linux] sv_downloadurl and banner.gif
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Ok, is this implemented or not? I started having requests for the banner.gif appear in my web logs. So I made one and put it on the server. I tried it on my system and got nothing and also saw nothing in the web logs. So, I did some investigation and it turns out that only 2 of all my players connecting have actually requested this. It started last night about 10pm central. So either a) they have a beta version of steam that requests this file or b) they have a hacked version of steam that requests this file because no way in hell is it c) I setup the damn thing wrong. I am actually looking into this further as we speak. One of the players was a name that sounded familiar as someone I banned a long time ago. They were one of the guys who runs the rage-extreme cheat web site. I'll keep you updated. -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

[hlds_linux] compression and sv_downloadurl
Forgive me if I missed the answer to this question, but are there any plans to allow compression of the files stored on the web server and transmitted to the client? At times the bandwidth and storage of these files gets to be a bit much when dealing with hosted web space.
