Re: [hlds_linux] Tickrate 100

Don't seem to be getting many replies so will just add that I get 333
fps max on 2.6 kernel, 50 max I think on older kernels (if anyone
knows how to up that without updating kernel let me know, needless to
say we've shoved them on 2.6).

tickrate doesn't seem to affect it. Tbh never really worried too much
though as 333 is fine (imo, I'm sure a couple will disagree ;)). Also
interested though if anyone can get more on either kernel.

 Hi guys
 Another tickrate 100 question
I am running a server at 100 tickrate (source) but stats is reporting

My fps_max is set to 1000 in the server.cfg.
 Should it go higher?

My system is AMD64 3.4 with 1GB Ram
 Fedora Core 2

[hlds_linux] VAC1 not loading on CS 1.6 server

2005-05-23 Thread Oum

Hi there,

I rent a CS1.6 Linux server, and of course I do have secure 1 in my
liblist.gam file, and usually my server is VAC Secure.

But since this saturday no more VAC :( ... nothing was changed to the
server, I have rebooted 3 or 4 times yesterday afternoon, and still no
VAC... later in the evening, I reboot once, and miracle VAC is here.

But since sunday morning, after daily reboot, impossible to have VAC back on
my server :(

Of course I know VAC1 is not updated and totally useless against cheats, but
it still have a psychologic effect on kids that comes on our server
being VAC Unsecure is very anoying.

Does someone have any idea about what is happening ?

Thank you,
Oum.

I know that VAC2 is in beta test, and not online for servers, but is there a

clients in CSS was equally poor, often times getting stuck at a

I think it's hit and miss. I prefer the console as well, but I know
several of my admins prefer the menu in some circumstances. Some
commands are just too simple for use in a menu, and some that have
several parts may be easier from the menu (like teleporting).

Bottom line is, I think there just needs to be a menuing system for the
SRCDS engine that works on all mods and is easily accessible. The old
method seems to be popular so I think Valve should consider the massive
community outcry here and figure out a way to make that happen. I just
with the some of the community approached this matter better.

When will people learn that +sv_secure 1 or -secure 1 will actually do
nothing because sv_secure is only request/read-only cvar and cannot activate
anything and secondly that even when enabling VAC2 with -vacbeta, no
cheats will be logged or detected whatsoever.

Your secure server is in fact not secured with -vacbeta.

Hi guys,

A kind of continuation from the servers not appearing in the master server
list.
I've noticed from doing very tests over time that my when I refresh my
master server list im getting a huge difference in servers being listed each
time.

For example, I start steam, it downloads the list, I get 2700 odd servers, I
look for my servers (tagged [AMMO]) and notice 4 of them displaying.
I press refresh again, this time it picks up 4100 servers, I now see 7
servers tagged as [AMMO]
I then press refresh again, this time I only pick up 3300 servers but now I
get all 11 of my servers.

So, why is this? Gametiger and the alike always have the whole list, steam
seems to be very unreliable at listing servers though, something that I
consider to be detrimental to the business of selling/renting clan servers!

I hope someone can help, aXeR

1000Hz in the kernel should result in a *max* of 1000fps on the
server, I thought. Seems to me if it's 333fps that you're seeing and
there's plenty of CPU left that there would be three servers running
at once. Not exactly sure though.

in my experience even with a 1000hz kernel and 1000/1 ticrate you
cannot go above 333fps without using -pingboost. i have been able to
get servers running at 1000 fps constant using -pingboost 2 without too
much cpu usage.
