Re: [hlds_linux] forbid bots on source Server

2005-10-23 Thread Ben Kennish

Just out of interest; is it possible to have bots on non CS source
servers? Only I'm sure I saw a few non-CS servers with bots enabled in
the Steam Servers list.

Cheers,
Ben

Re: [hlds_linux] sv_downloadurl downloads some files only

2005-10-23 Thread { AKA } dnc

I'm wondering does anyone also have this problem?
I have a dod:s server. I have no idea what is wrong. I have the
server.cfgcorrect. I even have the res file correct. I put the res
file in the maps
folder in the game server and even the webserver. It just does not want to
work. It doesn'ts the map only. Nothing else. I know linux is Case sensitive
and everything. But i did it correct by the book. Why wont it work?

i had this issue several times, and it took a lot of work to sort it
out. basically check all of these things (yes, im sure you have, but
the slightest mistake will cause it to fail without ever telling you why).

1) case sensitivity
2) file paths are right
3) res file is correctly formatted
4) res file has the right permissions on the game server
5) all files that are on the webserver need to be mirrored on the game
server as well (note, i have everything on my webserver bzipped, but the
stuff on the game server isnt).

lots of testing, lots of checking the error logs on the webserver to see
whats requested and eventually i managed to solve the problems.

since then it works brilliantly and sv_downloadurl hosting has saved us
a lot of hassle. now the only problem i have is the ridiculous number
of clients who connect to download something without providing the
referrer - so its hard to filter out requests from other gaming servers
who are attempting to leech files off my bandwidth.

I should point out that the author has said that b7 version is not for
public release and he has asked that pub servers do not have it in their
rotations.

Re: [hlds_linux] DoDs mp_autokick 1 is dropping players after just 50secs idle

2005-10-23 Thread Ben Kennish

Only in DoD Source (CSS is fine), mp_autokick 1 is dropping players that are
only idle for 50 seconds.

Is it possible to configure the idle time before the server kicks a
player? It really seems too low but yet I don't want to disable it.

Cheers,

[hlds_linux] sv_friction lower for Linux?

2005-10-23 Thread Ben Kennish

I notice when downloading the following...

http://esports.ampednews.com/?page=articlesid=6129

... that they appear to set their sv_friction value lower for linux
servers than for Windows servers. Is this a standard thing to do? Is
there any reason for me to tinker with vars like sv_friction,
sv_topspeed etc because so far I have not done so.

Thanks in advance,
