RE: [hlds_linux] High CPU % Choke on Source
Yes, I have similar issues. Not as bad though. We have same spec system. But 1Gb RAM, RHE 4 We run a 32 plyr server on it and a couple of 10 player servers, all 66 tic though. CPU load averages 80% with just the 32 plyr, add 2 10 plyr servers and we have >100% (load avg is 1.5), even idle servers chew a descent amount of CPU, we have to stop the 10 plyr servers when not in use. But yes, the CPU load is ridiculous compared to what it was last year when we first setup the box. Think I herd from someone that disabling VAC solves the problem, but who wants to do that. Re: [hlds_linux] High CPU % Choke on Source
I'm having no problems with choke. Could you please tell us your settings for: sv_minrate sv_maxrate sv_minupdaterate sv_maxupdaterate tickrate And knowing what kind of connection your average client is using as well - and what cl_cmdrate / cl_updaterate / rate they are using would also be handy. As a general rule - choke is when the client is flooded - and a fix is usually to increase rate and decrease cl_cmd/update rate. CPU - I haven't noticed higher CPU usage, but then I don't overload my machines either which a lot of people on this list seem to do; running ten billion 32 slot servers per machine. How many servers are you running per machine, and how many slots do each have? Are you running mods? Please try and give specific info if possible when posting. -Scott On Mon, 2006-01-30 at 01:08 -0600, flags wrote: > Since the December 5th time frame, we have had this intermittent choke. > Stuff about high cpu usage. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

UDP is considerably harder to masquerade given it's datagram model (which doesn't hold a connection open). I was having some problems with the DNS servers for ServerWiki, and due to my new job I didn't have time to address them. Fortunately I have everything sorted out now, so the wiki is back up and running. Thanks to all of those who have put time and effort into adding material to the Wiki, I promise it's not going away any time soon :) We now return you to your regularily scheduled flaming. --- Mike "DaiTengu" Miller Serverwiki Founder http://www.serverwiki.org H^2 | http://www.daitengu.com -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
Re: [hlds_linux] RCon modules for Ruby
I have a rcon lib writen in C# ( .net ) if someone wants it ( Writen by Andrew Simpson ) , i was planning at one point to add ability to query public info from the servers aswell so it would be a complete library for source servers. If there is a interest i could mirror it for other ppl to use. Best Regards Erling K. Sæterdal Want a admint tool for Source servers ? Except for the obvious php, and the C++ lib that valve released I'm working on one for .NET atm and am thinking of releasing it; however I'm not sure if anyone else has anything similar. I figured it might be of interest.) The reasons for the postings earlier was that I finally cleaned up my RCon classes for Ruby, and have released them. The rubyforge project is pending approval, so for now, you can get them here: http://erik.hollensbe.org/code/rcon/ The rubyforge page will likely be: http://rubyforge.org/projects/ rcon/ - I'll update here if that has changed. This release is tested on Linux, FreeBSD, and OS X. It should work on Windows, but if someone with some time and a pre-configured ruby installation has the time/interest to hack on it and get back to me, I'd appreciate it. The code is under a standard non-advertising BSD license. For the sanity of those that aren't interested, please email me directly if you're having any issues or wish to provide patches. -- Erik Hollensbe [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
Re: [hlds_linux] RCon modules for Ruby
There are a couple in C, one in python and one in PHP, and the one I just released, that I know of. EMail me privately if you have any questions about the protocol, it can be... particular at times.
