RE: [hlds_linux] HOWTO use a Domain instead of an IP for a CS Server adress
Just buy a domain name. Next, redirect a host you created (ie game.yourdomain.com) to your game server's IP. You'll be able to join it using game.yourdomain.com:27015 -Message d'origine- De : [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] De la part de linux penguin Envoyé : dimanche 28 janvier 2007 23:48 À : hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Objet : [hlds_linux] HOWTO use a Domain instead of an IP for a CS Server adress -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] hi, Can someone telll me how ppl do this?; Have a domain like ( cs1.dude.net:27015) instead of (102.44.43.251:27015) Is it just a case of using a domain you've got? RE: [hlds_linux] HOWTO use a Domain instead of an IP for a CS Server adress
You just need to add an A record to the domain which translates cs1 to 104.44.43.251. -Original Message- From: linux penguin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 5:48 PM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: [hlds_linux] HOWTO use a Domain instead of an IP for a CS Server adress -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] hi, Can someone telll me how ppl do this?; Have a domain like ( cs1.dude.net:27015) instead of (102.44.43.251:27015) Is it just a case of using a domain you've got? Re: [hlds_linux] Odd server browser behavior.
This has a lot to do with the number of servers you are sending queries to. There are only a few in favorites but many in the full browser. There is a good chance that this is being aggravated by your router getting overloaded, typically lowering (yes lowering) the steam connection rate will help this. Steam > settings > internet > Internet connection speed As a test to verify that it is the router, you can try connecting direct to your modem and see if the browsers behave differently. Another possibility is If you are running a game server on the same home connection as your client, you may actually be momentarily overloading your internet connection, especially if the server is busy. - Original Message - From: "Tuomas Vainikka" To: Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 1:56 PM Subject: [hlds_linux] Odd server browser behavior.
