No. It works fine here. I ran the ./steam -command update -game hl2mp -beta src1029 and started the linux dedicated server. I then changed my shortcut in windows to start the steam client with the same switch. Once I did that the hl2dm in the games list shows as updating as well. Once both are updated you'll see the changes.
