Re: [hlds_linux] TF2 high server load since friday update
Sorry, but I don't think an Opteron can handle this. You can check it by yourself: 1. Join the server, make some client settings: net_graph 1 cl_updaterate 100 cl_cmdrate 100 2. Join spectator and move to an area with many player action. 3. Move your view to the wall to have high client fps. Take a look to this picture: http://www.ronny-schedel.de/server_fps_drop.jpg This is what you normally see on a TF2 server with heavy load. You have high fps, but the red marked parameter drops, because the server is overloaded. On an ideal server you have always 66/sec (server updates to client) with a tickrate set to 66. You can compare this with a CSS or DODS server where you can easly have stable 66/sec updates. Ronny i have an opteron 2*2,2 ghz cpu in one of my servers ... and i run a 20 slot css and a 32 slot tf2 on the 2nd cpu core ... both gameservers have a cpu load around 70% with filled slots ... and it's absolutely running fine -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ronny Schedel Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2008 8:30 PM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] TF2 high server load since friday update I have visited some 32 slot windows servers, they all could not handle tickrate 66 with heavy action. Therefore, we noe have supplied the league with dedicated warservers, and an equal amount of servers which is supposed to work as STV proxys. By doing this, we hope to give the specators a much better experience, and the teams less hassle. BUT! I have never done this before - and unfortunately the people who acctually know this is on vacation.I wish 1 STV client on the warserver, and max 255 specators on the STV proxy-server.
