Re: [hlds_linux] Server redirect

2008-03-27 Thread ics
One thing keeps me wondering, which is that why your server has C-class
IP instead of A-class? This is propably the reason why it gets listed
last after every A-class IP like your own.

Re: [hlds_linux] Server redirect

2008-03-27 Thread J. Miribel
Hi all, hi TC,

I agree all players from europe play on our servers but this is the case
because both you and I have big servers...
On our CSS 64 ppl server, 55% of the players are from our country
(france) and on the 45% left 40 are from country around france: UK,
belgium, deutchland, spain etc... Eastern europe user won't connect
thats for sure ;)

BUT: in my cas, our server shows up real late in server list,
all because the server list query will send me servers with IP near
mine, and my personnal IP starts with "82.xxx.xxx.xxx", the server is
"194.xxx.xxx.xxx"... My server is then full of servers from all over
Europe before I get servers from my own country.. This server filter is
out of date...

There are at least 3 kinds of players:
Those who look for a ffa server with a decent ping (and those won't play
far from homeland)
Those who likes to play on special/modded servers (those we both welcome
everyday on our big servers TC)
Those who are there for scrimm (and they already know the IP of the
server they'll play on)

All I'm saying is that Valve should better filtrate the servers IP and
the server list should be sent depending on player's IP's COUNTRY /
Server IP's COUNTRY instead of player's IP / server's IP.
Why ? Because RIPE / ARIN / LACNIC and other RIRs won't allocate subnets
by country anymore, therefore the server listing is done the wrong way ;)

Best regards
