Re: [hlds_linux] Cannot see server in browser

2008-06-12 Thread Crazy Canucks
I use BrazilFW (formerly Coyote). It is very user friendly and works
very well on very old hardware. The only drawback is that a full sized
computer, even a really old, stripped down one, takes considerably more
power than a dedicated router.

If you are looking for a router that runs Linux, I've heard good things
about the Linksys WRT54GL, although I've never personally used one. You
can get them dirt cheap these days as well.

I'm not sure how this is working for everyone else, but I know everyone
that is hosted with gameservers.com(and from what I've heard most of the
other gsp's) has this issue. When the update is released the server gets
notified and spams " Your server will be restarted on map change" all
over the logs. But when it restarts itself it doesn't pull the udpate.
So it then gets caught in a never ending restart-on-mapchange loop. I
know that with gameservers.com you have to kill the process, wait 3-5
mins, and then restart the process to actually trigger the update. Can
we have control of when to update, or can this be fixed?

Maybe background-repeat: repeat;* (x or y) *will help with scaling on diff
resolutions?

Just a thought

[hlds_linux] MOTD chalkboard how-to (TF2)

2008-06-12 Thread Saint K.
Hi,

We released a small how-to + example files on how to create a shared motd
keeping the original TF2 design intact. (This is usefull for hosts who have
multiple servers reading the motd from one location).

http://www.specialattack.net/node/39

Enjoy,

Saint K.

[hlds_linux] New Update screws server

2008-06-12 Thread Patrick Shelley
Valve, I normally stick right up for ya' - but this update is a joke! (for
me at least)

With/without BeetlesMod (which he has made a fix for) my server just keeps
crashing on RCON changelevel.

The only way i can get it to succesfully change map is thru HLSW and ticking
'kick all on map change' - great fun!

It surely would be a whole heap better for everyone if you did PLENTY of
tests first before releasing this onto us and using us as guinea pigs for
your bug fixes and testing purposes.

I'm really pissed at you Valve. Not impressed.
