afaik it does not matter what IP you use - you'll never see the server
in the lan browsing list then.

I know Tony published a plugin which works around this problem, but is there
any time
table on an official fix for this? I understand Valve Time, but my machine
that Tonys
fix doesn't work on (1 out of 9 servers) really hates crashing every 30-40
minutes =)

Make sure you bind to internal inet addr like "-ip 192.168.0.15" not
external net address.

Re: [hlds_linux] LAN Server Browser & +ip

2009-03-02 Thread David A. Parker
If you go into the server browser and add the servers manually as
favorites, do they show up?

Also, a quick heads-up about -ip vs. +ip. In my experience, using -ip
caused CS:S to bind to port 27015 on all available interfaces
(0.0.0.0:27015), where +ip caused it to bind only to the desired IP
address. I think you definitely want to use +ip if possible.

-ip and +ip both resulted in the same issue. Setting the ip in the
server.cfg file, do i just do ip x.x.x.x in the file?

Subject: [hlds_linux] LAN Server Browser & +ip

I have been experimenting and found out that binding the ip address via the
command line argument +ip stops hlds from responding to broadcast packets
looking for dedicated servers even though sv_lan 1 is set. Can anyone else
confirm this? If so, this makes running multiple different game servers on
the standard port more difficult than desired. I'm looking at running
multiple Left 4 Dead, HL2MP, Counter-Strike etc (depending on demand) off of
a dedicated server and was binding specific ip addresses for each one so
they could all listen on unique ip addresses. If I remove the +ip argument,
the server responds as expected to broadcast packets.

I did my testing with L4D.

Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to use -ip on the command line, or even assign the IP in the
server.cfg?

Atm you cannot "fix" it.

Try rebooting the computer, the most common fact is that the first boot of
the l4d server isn't crashing.
