Same here. Wasn't there a patch that supposedly fixed this issue? Server was
fully up-to-date.

Wait works. It's the allow wait CVAR that doesn't.

If any of the HUD elements disappear, you can use the CVar hud_reloadscheme
to bring them back. No 1 or 0 needed, just issue the command in the console
and press Enter. The flipside of this is that it sometimes will cause the
invisible players issue so you'll have to start recording a demo and stop it
as described earlier once you issue this command.

I guess: bind "key" "hud_reloadscheme; start a; stop" would probably work,
though I haven't tested it. It takes a little longer than an instant to
reload the HUD, so a wait or two might be necessary. But doesn't wait not
work right now?

Anyway, I can test it out a little later on tonight. If that doesn't work,
I'll get back to you with what does.

2009-03-31 Thread gameadmin
If that's a problem I could probably rig up a bot to do it, if people don't
mind (though then it wouldn't have the "@valvesoftware.com" sender address
that I, for one, use to tag official messages)

EDIT: I was about to suggest that the times for outages mention the time as
well, until I saw that was the exception and not the rule. Never mind

Thank you. Could we get such notifications to the lists as well? That
would be excellent if so.

Re: [hlds_linux] hlds not updating to last version(4383)

2009-03-31 Thread valvesoftware . com
I'd have to check to be 100% sure, but I believe that 4352 is the latest
build for hlds_amd. hlds_amd and hlds_i686 don't have the same build
numbers. The latest hlds_run that was part of the beta changes the
checks that decide which binary to run for a particular platform. My
Pentium 4 server always used to use hlds_i686, but now it uses hlds_amd.

All of those "couldn't exec" errors can be eliminated by creating the
file it is complaining about (touch language.cfg, touch listip.cfg,
etc.) Same for the "scandir failed" messages: mkdir /usr/hl/valve/SAVE,
mkdir /usr/hl/platform/SAVE.

The "[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init()" message is just there. I don't think
we can do anything to fix it, but it is safe to ignore.

I think the "threadtools.cpp" line can be ignored as well. Someone asked
about that one or a very similar one a few weeks ago and Alfred said to
ignore it.

I did some digging into this with the help of Yahn, and we determined
that it was a bug in WINE, not HL2. Turns out the person I had verify
this along with me was also using WINE. In case anyone is interested,

2009-03-31 Thread Steven Sumichrast
Brian,

I'm using Lighttpd for my fast downloads and I have not noticed this
problem at all (CS:S, L4D and TF2) -- getting 200 responses back when
users request a file, and then it serves it up... doesn't matter on
format, either.

A beta update for Half-Life 1 Engine games has been released. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive it with "-beta hlds0319" on the command line. The
specific changes include:

Server changes:
- Fixed players being kicked from servers with an INVALID_STEAM_TICKET
rejection
- Added a message to the server console to show when the server has
reconnected to Steam
- Made map name and other variables reported by the server stay more current
- Show HLTV being connected in the player count for pings
- Fixed occasional crash under Linux on startup for SMP machines

This update won't be in beta long, so don't delay your testing.

Re: [hlds_linux] random segfault issue

2009-03-31 Thread djh

it's a kreedz server
if i disable metamod that would automatically disable amxmodx and the server
will serve no purpose
it crashes mostly when it's full or close to full, that happening 2 3 even 4
times a day. it never crashed when empty or with just 2 3 players on.
my point is if i disable metamod the server will be empty, everyone will leave
soon after connecting.
im using metamod-p v1.19p32 but i also used the classic metamod 1.19 and the
same thing happens.

djh,

How often is your server crashing? If you mentioned that already, I
apologize, but I didn't notice it in your original e-mail.

Could you completely disable Metamod and see if it crashes? It looks
like the problem is in the hlds binary itself, but you can never be 100%
sure with extra stuff running.

As far as masking out the sensitive info in the core dump, that
shouldn't cause any problems as long as you use an editor that opens the
file in binary mode.
