Certainly the second of them should work... you are specifying the ACCEPT
rule before the DROP one, yes?

My stuff has gotten rcon crashed a few times, i tried making the kick
convars so high, that it'd be megaspam for them to work... but still a
 few
 get through.

so i thought about shutting off rcon with an iptables rule, but i want
 to
allow certain addresses so admins and I can still use hlsw.

 -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 27015 -j DROP

that works great, but I can't seem to white list any ip's through

 i tried both
 -A INPUT -s MY IP -j ACCEPT

 -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 27015 -s MY_IP -j ACCEPT

 no dice

[hlds_linux] Hosting HLDS Behind a DIR-655

2009-09-13 Thread Crazy Canucks
I'm looking for some advice or suggestions. I'm trying to host a server
behind a D-Link Dir-655 router. I've hosted for years behind a BrazilFW
router that was simply brilliant. I was hoping that the Dir-655 would
be a good energy efficient replacement.

I hosted Day of Defeat 1.3 without any major problems, but last night
hosting Natural Selection 3.2 a number of my clients were being
disconnected. Unfortunately they didn't write down the error, but I
know we were having problems with a reliable channel overflow error that
I think is related to font issues stemming from using wide screen format
where the server is running a 64 bit os (this is a side issue at this
point, I think there are also other problems).

I've also noticed that the router will get flaky and sometimes have to
be rebooted if I engage in high speed downloading. This may or may not
be related to the disconnect issues. I don't do this while the server
is running, but I'm just wondering if this might be an indication of a
configuration issue that might impact the router's performance while I
am hosting servers.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else has tried to run a server behind a
Dir-655, and if so, do they have any suggestions as to settings? Here
is a list of settings that I wonder about specifically, but there may be
others. The question is specifically should these be enabled or disabled?

SPI
Anti-spoof checking
WAN traffic shaping
QoS engine
QoS engine - dynamic fragmentation
PPTP
IPSec
RTSP
SIP
Multicast Streams

The server is wired to the router, there may be another computer
accessing the net while the server is up, but it won't be doing anything
that requires any significant bandwidth.

Drek

P.S.: If anyone can donate the Ubicom sdk (I think this is what they
need) to the developers of DD-WRT so they can add support for this
router, I'd be grateful. Last I heard it is only $3000 US... :p

Re: [hlds_linux] Hosting HLDS Behind a DIR-655

2009-09-13 Thread Guy Watkins
I have had problems at home and at work when using D-Link switches and home
routers with Intel network cards. It seems like they don't like each other.
Do you have Intel networks cards talking to the D-Link?

I don't know who's fault it is, but I will never buy D-Link again. I
can't say I will never buy Intel, because many computers and laptops have
Intel built-in and I have no control over that.
