There are some posts on the steampowered forums on this issue too. Plus rumors that it might be an attempt at limiting idling, except it seems to affect non-idle maps/servers. I've experienced it myself, even timing out seconds after connecting. Also found out that setting cl_timeout (clientside) to a big number helps a bit. It happened to me in CSS on my own server. The server is in my house! The round just started and I was buying stuff. For the past few hours now my server has been having people dropping left and right, from anywhere from 1 minute connected to 20 minutes connected. Player FerretParade! left the game (Client timed out) Player malarkie left the game (Client timed out) I've heard from the people who have been kind enough to reconnect what is wrong (as it's happening to me as well) and they said the connection to all servers has been spotty like this, even in other source-based games.
