Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Lambda
On first hand experience of my servers being banned by valve, im gonna help
you, all of this info has came from Fletcher so im not inventing anything.

- Valve doesn't ban IP ranges, but "communities" or "server brands", that
means if you have 100 servers but only one is infringing a rule, you get
banned all of the 100 servers since they belong to the same community.
- Changing an IP doesn't resolve anything, the only thing thing you will
get is the new IP banned and the ban time reset, read the line above.
- Bans (Both quick play (tfgs account) and master list) lasts for 1 month
and as far i know you can't make them shorter.
- Doesn't matter if the server have quick play enabled, if you lie
(intentionally or not) you're eligible for a punishment.

I would contact Fletcher about this as there have been times that my
servers stopped to show on the master list, he will tell you if your
servers are indeed banned and the reason.

Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Michael Johansen

The problem is that the servers that caused this aren't running QuickPlay, my
guess is that the tradeserver or the surf server caused it to be delisted, and
neither of those is quickplay-eligeble as they run custom maps. The orange_x3
server uses mp_respawn_wave_time or something like that to set the respawntime,
so it shouldn't be that server causing it.

That plugin isn't causing it to be de-listed - so long as tags reflect fast
respawn it only makes quickplay take a hit not delist the server. Send a
support ticket into valve and see what they say.

Oh wow, I didn't exactly think that they would delist every server because
of ONE server that doesn't even use quickplay, I'm using some SourceMod
plugin that was the preferred one in terms of stability, it manually
respawns players on my Orange_x3 server and on the tradeserver. Would this
be the reason?

Yeah, I was going to clean it up, all those tags were just for testing.
And all the other servers are, infact registered. It is a trade server, so
it shouldn't be registered either. However, I have added the id's and
tokens to all servers now, and rebooted them. Still only players that have
visited before joining tho. No traffic from quickplay.

Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Michael Johansen

After lwf told me to cleanup the tags, I've added "norespawntimes" to the Surf
and Trade server, and I've added "respawntimes" to the Orange server since it's
fastrespawn, and not instantrespawn. Does this sound ok?

Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Eric Riemers
Looking at those tags, it does not say "registered" which it normally does
if you register, also it says instantrespawn , but I don't see any respawn
tags in there too? (like norespawntime for instance)

These are the tags from "BlackOutGaming.org :: TF2 #8 - Trade |
InstantRespawn Players" (83.170.119.169:27015) according to
game-monitor.com:

"blackout,blackoutgaming,blackoutgaming.org,buwk,emo,gameM,gravity,replays,t
rade,trade_plaza,tradeplaza,trading,uk,unitedkingdom"

Probably has nothing to do with it, but you may want to clean that mess up.
"blackoutgaming.org" covers both "blackout" and "blackoutgaming" so both of
these doesn't do anything useful. "buwk"?
"emo"? Another server has "re", I don't understand the purpose.
But enough nitpicking. There's no tag for the modified spawn timers.
Neither does it appear to be registered, or at least not logged in.

Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Michael Johansen

Oh wow, I didn't exactly think that they would delist every server because of
ONE server that doesn't even use quickplay, I'm using some SourceMod plugin
that was the preferred one in terms of stability, it manually respawns players
on my Orange_x3 server and on the tradeserver. Would this be the reason?

Also, do you have anything along the lines of an item schema update in the

Re: [hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Eric Riemers
You won't get delisted for reserved slot/teambalance immunity. But if you
changed the respawn times and don't put that in your sv_tags for instance,
that could be a cause. Either way, you might just be unlucky and it works
tomorrow again.. you never know sometimes.

cl_gameserver_create_identity (copy paste) and I know it works.Connection to
Steam servers is successful and the server runs just fine.
What have I done to be delisted? None of my servers run any sort of pay2win
system, all players get is a reserved slot and immunities from teambalancers
and so on.
Who should I contact in regards to this - either to remove the stuff that
did it or just to get info.

[hlds_linux] Servers most probably delisted - reasons and info

2012-02-19 Thread Michael Johansen

Hi guys,
None of my servers are appearing on the server browser. I've searched for all
possible tags I have set on them and none of them appears.Other servers appear
just fine using other tags, but if I add the same tag to one of my servers, it
does not show up.
Server is logged in using the id and token i got from
cl_gameserver_create_identity (copy paste) and I know it works.Connection to
Steam servers is successful and the server runs just fine.

Well, they might have fixed one bug :-)
I posted 4 different crashes to the list the other week.

At least 2 of them are still in the game since the last update.

This one, dating back nearly a year still happens since the last update :-

Faulting application name: hl2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ea78f27
Faulting module name: filesystem_steam.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0,
time stamp: 0x4f28

Exception code: 0xc005
Fault offset: 0x739ff1c9

This is either the bug that was at offset 411864 or it's a new bug
replacing that one :)

Faulting application name: hl2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ea78f27
Faulting module name: client.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f3d4a2d
Exception code: 0xc005
Fault offset: 0x004103a4

Getting a few game exits rather than crashes saying things like
CTSListBase: Misaligned node now as well

Still relatively infrequent though. One every couple of hours on average.

I've been using Google's public DNS for months, no such messages anywhere on

Hello friends!

Please open your

/etc/resolv.conf

and look which ip addresses are in there!

Please have a look to the server logs. Do you have something like:

"Temporary failure in name resolution" ?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Laurenz Ruprecht
