Re: [hlds_linux] Test linux steam binaries

2012-08-22 Thread James Beegle
Is this update intended to fix crashes on level restart votes, or only
level loads? Because I just had my server crash a few minutes ago from a
restart vote while using the new binaries.

João Felício,

If you are using any mods (Mani Admin, Eventscripts, Sourcemod) unload it
from the "addons" folder, and it will work.
In order to fix this issues, wait for a patch of such mod to be released.

Thank you.

You need to create steam_appid.txt in the same folder as srcds_run (should
be orangebox folder) and have it contain "440"

2012-08-22 Thread Magnus Ringdahl
Hi,
I have an odd issue with my TF2 server.
When I run it I get:

Executing dedicated server config file server.cfg
Initializing Steam libraries for secure Internet server
*

* Unable to load Steam support library.*
* Unable to load Steam support library.*
* This server will operate in LAN mode only.*
* This server will operate in LAN mode only.*

I have googled for some hours finding only that some people fixed it with
updating steam client which I don't have on a Linux server :)

Kind Regards

The binaries are not specific to TF, but the problems it was intended to
address might be.

[hlds_linux] Mandatory CS:S update released

2012-08-22 Thread Eric Smith
We've released a mandatory update to CS:S. The notes for the update are below.

-Eric

--

Counter-Strike: Source
- Fixed a client crash on exit (after connecting to a server using sv_pure)
- Added sv_namechange_cooldown_seconds, to throttle clients from changing their
name too rapidly. (Defaults to 20 seconds)
- Added sv_netspike_on_reliable_snapshot_overflow to selectively enable the
automatic dumping of netspike file if a client drops due to "reliable snapshot
overflow" (defaults to 0, which disables the debugging)
- Added check to prevent player names from containing color codes
- setinfo console command will now reject attempts to set / change convars with
any unusual characters
- Marked mem_force_flush as a cheat to prevent client exploits
- Fixed %n console crash in the client
- Updated client rate value to default to 3 to improve network performance
for most players
   - Rate was previously set by Steam's Internet connection speed setting
- Updated client rate value to be stored in the config.cfg file
- Fixed a Linux dedicated server crash on exit

Re: [hlds_linux] Red X'es

2012-08-22 Thread Eli Witt
"removing those clientside effects fixed the problem for both me, and
everyone else playing on my server, oddly enough."

There's nothing odd about that at all, your TF2 client *is* the server in
this instance, so the server has different models than the clients playing
with you.

The server communicates the fact that the model has been replaced with a
3rd party one to the other players, whos TF2 clients do not have this
model. So they get a red X.

 Doing a clean install with:

Re: [hlds_linux] TF2 clean install missing steam_appid.txt ?

2012-08-22 Thread Ben Sixtyfour
I just added a steam_appid.txt containing "440" and now everything works
swimmingly.

Re: [hlds_linux] TF2 clean install missing steam_appid.txt ?

2012-08-22 Thread Pieter De Cang
Did you use SteamCMD on the server?
I had the problem on a Windows server, to fix it I installed normal
steam install and it worked. No idea on linux. But if you also used
steamcmd once on that server that is likely the problem.

Maybe You should put sourcecode on GitHub?

[hlds_linux] TF2 server crashes, SteamCMD, etc.

2012-08-22 Thread Weasel
Glad to hear that SteamCMD is slated to at least not require an account that
"owns" the games it's hosting. Anybody know about multiple instances trying to
update at the same time? I normally update by scripts, which may run in
parallel (i.e. nothing to enforce them to never run at the same time).
Wondering if that will be a problem.

Regarding the previous TF2 issues my server have been experienced since the MvM
stuff launched. I am still getting crashes. But, now they only appear to be
at map-change. What's weird, is on my primary server, I only run one (custom)
map - which has never caused any issues like this before. Now, when one team
finishes capping all the capture-points, it crashes, drops everybody - then
restarts on it's own.

Haven't had time to put much into troubleshooting. I killed some SM plugins
that I thought might be related, but haven't had time to disable SM and MM:S
entirely, let it run, etc.

Is anybody else still getting TF2 crashes during map change or cycle, or
map-based end-round type events (capture all points, reach ctf "playing-to"
threshold, etc.)?

Add -verify_all and -retry to the command line. This will check all the
files and installs any missing files.
