[hlds_linux] TF2 processing vote kick incorrectly?

2012-10-23 Thread Ross Bemrose
I haven't personally seen this, but I've heard rumors that the TF2 Kick
Vote is kicking the incorrect user if the the user whom the vote is for
has a certain client hack installed to change their username once the
vote starts (by hooking the VoteStart usermessage maybe?)

Since the callvote command sends the userid rather than the username, I
assume this is a bug in the vote processor when the vote completes.
It's just a guess on my part, though.

Re: [hlds_linux] Next OrangeBox update may break linux plugins

2012-10-23 Thread Tony Paloma
We have to rename the binaries to avoid name collisions with the Linux client,
but on your dedicated server you should be able to symlink the old names to the
new binaries to allow old plugins to continue to work.

Does this mean all Valve Server Plugins will need to be recompiled since they
all require tier0/memdbgon.h?

[hlds_linux] Big red "ERROR" showing in Replay Editor. Corrupted replay files?

2012-10-23 Thread BJ Snell
So I've just setup replay again on my server after not using it for a year.
I found it was buggy and caused more lag and trouble than it was worth.

Everything seems to be work except when you play back a replay on your
client some of the players have a huge floating red "ERROR" above their
heads. It's a little odd having people running around with gigantic words
above their heads and obviously ruins any proper videos.

Replay files seem to be uploaded and distributed without any problem (ftp
upload to secondary box and served via apache). No errors in the game
server console or apache logs. Is there a replay system log somewhere?

Has anyone come across this problem before? I can't seem to fault the
server from what I see but clients are having the above problem.

So since OSX has support for all those games, I assume sooner or later the

Re: [hlds_linux] Next TF update may break linux plugins

2012-10-23 Thread Steve Dudenhoeffer
Thanks for the warning. The binary files being renamed is easy enough to
work around, but apparently the symbols are also stripped out of them. Any
chance this can be reversed for the server binaries? Converting to
signatures and maintaining them would be a huge hassle.

Thanks.

[hlds_linux] Next TF update may break linux plugins

2012-10-23 Thread Fletcher Dunn
A word of warning concerning the next TF update. Many of the Linux binaries
for the dedicated server will be renamed.

For example:

bin/datacache_srv.so
bin/dedicated_srv.so
bin/engine_srv.so
bin/libtier0_srv.so
bin/libvstdlib_srv.so
bin/materialsystem_srv.so
bin/replay_srv.so
bin/scenefilecache_srv.so
bin/shaderapiempty_srv.so
bin/soundemittersystem_srv.so
bin/studiorender_srv.so
bin/vphysics_srv.so
tf/bin/server_srv.so

If you have any scripts or plugins that depend on particular filenames, this
could break them.

Also, the update will contain a large number of changes to low level libraries
such as tier0_srv.so.

The most recent TF beta was shipped with the renamed binaries and with these
changes and can be used to test any scripts or plugins.

We highly recommend that plugin developers test their plugins against the
current TF beta.

Thank you,
Fletch

I'm pretty sure I mentioned it on this list (and the Windows mailing

2012-10-23 Thread Ross Bemrose
For those of you who missed it, this was posted about 20 minutes ago to
the Steam Downtime thread:

"We've rolled out a fix to the affected servers and will monitor to
ensure the problem is, in fact, resolved."

On 10/23/2012 4:40 PM, RSS List User wrote:

system). I will update this thread when we have more details or the

This means our SourceMod does not work, since it won't accept invalid
client by default. Just a heads up! =)

Past this evening, i've seen people disappearing from my TF2 and CSGO
servers. The message is usually the same, goes like this:

L 10/23/2012 - 21:10:39: "Deggael<396><>" entered
the game
rcon from "89.166.50.126:36284": command "hlx_sm_psay "294,268" 2
"Deggael (Pos 2889 with 2819 points) has connected from Finland""
L 10/23/2012 - 21:10:49: "Deggael<396>"
disconnected (reason "Your client has failed to authorize in time.
Please reconnect or restart your game")
Dropped Deggael from server (Your client has failed to authorize in
time. Please reconnect or restart your game)
L 10/23/2012 - 21:11:05: "Deggael<397><>" connected,
address "88.193.52.156:63509"
Client "Deggael" connected (88.193.52.156:63509).

Doesn't matter how many times they try to connect, dropped off. It's
nearly every user, not just few and multiple games on separate machines.
Anyone else have a server sitting empty or nearly empty that is normally
full? There's nothing on the Steam stats about it that would hint about
an issue http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

(I had strange views too, including that white stuff.. see

Re: [hlds_linux] Whole Server dropping out - Steam down?

2012-10-23 Thread Cameron Munroe
Kac ~=~ SMAC, but the issue is with valve. There servers commonly go
down and then reconnect. If you type status into the console of your
server it will say that it is not logged in. Therefore clients can't be
verified. Turning off SMAC, or KAC is not suggested.

Hello,

most of my Server have been dropped out because of this Error:

Your client has failed to authorize in time. Please reconnect or restart
your game

It started about 5-10 mins ago and nearby everyone who connects gets dropped
out because of that.
Anyone else having that Problem?
