RE: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Dedicated server beta

2007-04-05 Thread DEPRE Gaetan
This is a counter-strike source update (srcds - hmm ?? -_-).

The correct command line is :

./steam -command update -game "counter-strike source" -dir /home/hlds.hd/
-beta srcds0407

with hldsupdatetool you mean the steam binary, coz using hldsupdatetool.bin
with options does work, and steam steams to update itself with those
options. I guess that is what you mean, if os, how does it help? when i
update srcds nothing seems to be changed?

and last, why does updating srcds end with a "HLDS installation up to date"?

[hlds_linux] Re: [hlds] Source Engine Dedicated server beta

2007-04-04 Thread DEPRE Gaetan
Alfred, would it be useful for us to apply this beta patch to each source
server we host (this may take a very long time depending of the number of
servers we host) or should we have to wait for an official update (I mean 1
more week would be too long for our customers to wait, not 2-3 days) ?

Thx for the advice.

We have another couple items we want to include in this beta so it won't be
default for a little while yet.

Not patched : 85% CPU on one thread (~21% at all on a dual Xeon) for a 18

RE: [hlds_linux] Re: Lag since 3/13/07 on debian and FC 5 only ?

2007-03-19 Thread DEPRE Gaetan
So, I guess we'll need these information :

Dual xeon 1core FSB 533 512 KO L2 Cache : Lags
Dual xeon 1core FSB 800 2 Mo L2 Cache : Lags but after a few hours the
server is running
Dual xeon 2cores 4 Mo Cache : No more lags

Debian Etch 2.6.20.1 on each box.

Could the CPU's cache be responsible (in part) of this lag problem ?

As reported earlier, we have no lag on FC2 with kernel 2.6.20.3 @ 1000HZ..
Good to see someone getting some constructive 'research' of the ground,
as opposed to just moaning at Valve.

Hi,

Recently we tried to start our old CS1.6 server, but the console complained
about some corrupted files so we decided to reinstall it. We delete the
complete installation directory and redownloaded HLDS via:

./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir /home/z-spot/cs

After that we tried to start with:
./hlds_amd -console - game cstrike +ip 89.106.241.45 -port 27015 +maxplayers
19 -tickrate 66 -pingboost 1 +map de_dust -autoupdate

But we get:

Error:steam_api_i486.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
Unable to load engine, image is corrupt.

Can anyone help us?

hi,

Can someone telll me how ppl do this?; Have a domain like (

Is it just a case of using a domain you've got? If so, where do you specify
this?

Big problems with 2.6.18. I noticed that servers running on it didn't
consume much CPU ('bout 2-3% for a 20 players source on dual xeon 2.8).
Changed to 2.6.19, everything now runs good.

Hi guys

I'm working on a Linux server for some friends and I have a question or two.

1. Why does the server fps on a "stats" command fluctuate massively on an
empty server when the same server showing CPU usage not changing?

2. How do you stablise the server fps on a Linux box so the server fps
doesn't see highs of 256 and lows of 48 1 after the other? That is to say,
how do you get the server fps to sit nicely at say 200fps constant, at least
under zero load, except for constant rcon stats spam?

Using Kernel 2.6.18 (I believe) and the Kernel Hz timer is set to 1000.

Thanks in Advance

How does this sound:

Lets speak together, and STOP all of our SRCDS processes for 24 hours.

For example, from 04. january 13:00 to 05. january 13:00.

(and if they are not doing anything - at least an answer to our
performance questions, we will do another shutdown later for 48 hours...)

Just to get Valve a feeling, how it is, to loose people.

We will inform people about the outage before this date, and let
everyone know, why we are doing this. I am sure, that every player will
understand it.
