Re: [OT]RE: [hlds_linux] License fees for LAN gaming centres
Well it's not like we were getting any *useful* information from VALVe lately... I'm still waiting on them to reply about the VSM logging, and if the VSM modules for TFC are actually DOING anything... Re: [hlds_linux] VAC Updates (hello.. valve... anyone home??)
Well if VALVe isn't logging the bans/kicks, etc then WHY IN THE HELL are we even bothering with running VSM ? If someone is cheating on -MY- server, I want to know about it... Correction... I have *EVERY RIGHT* to know about it, and for it to be logged. Between this, the buggy updates, the never-ending-cycle of NEVER fixing the bugs in TFC, all I can do is wait for Call of Duty to be released and I will most definately be making the switch on my servers unless things improve, *laff*. Tony Di Schino wrote: --- Brian A. Stumm [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Does VAC even log bans? I've seen some posts since steam came out saying noone CS included is seeing logs of bans. I personally want to see a log of any warning or ban implemeneted... I know for a fact my users were warned for using sparkies client side but no log line was a result of the warn. I too run TFC. VAC stopped logging bans for CS in August I believe. There was a squabble about it on the list at the time, I think Stormtrooper (PsychoStats writer) even posted regarding it, as psychostats would no longer show any cheaters caught when this happened. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Tried adding the heartbeat... RE: [hlds_linux] VAC Security Modules -Beta Password Changed
You're looking at it from the Cheater-Strike prospective... As it worked EXCELLENT for TFC, ready for league play until 1109... If you say that HLG was ..almost becoming worthless then, well how Can you put -any- stock in it now? All it has is a wallhack block that's iffy to begin with. Anyone can be seen at the corners and that's ALL the warning you need... Aimbot blocking doesn't work, cheat blocking doesn't work, speedhack detection doesn't work... etc.. etc.. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:hlds_linux-admin;list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Mike Hodgkinson Sent: Saturday, October 19, 2002 5:44 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] VAC Security Modules -Beta Password Changed HLG getting vey accurate on its detections? RE: [hlds_linux] Dissapearing players
Exactly.. by doing what you have stated with the maxplayers, HLDS will do some INCREDIBLY strange stuff with tfc, including letting player cap the flag over and over and over without moving 3 feet... Strange but True! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of HoundDawg Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 12:58 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Dissapearing players Anomolies like these used to happen on my TFC servers. For a long time we thought it was due to something within AdminMod. For some reason, when we uninstalled AdminMod and Metamod, the problem would disappear. Then, after HLDS 1106 or some old patch like that or 1108, the problem existed even without AdminMod and Metamod. The problem was finally diagnosed as a simple thing like adding maxplayers to the server.cfg which would be larger than the default (6) or anything defined in the autoexec.cfg. I believe it had something to do with resource alocation in that HLDS alocates a specific amount of resources as the server starts up based on command line parameters and the autoexec.cfg. When the server.cfg requests more, it has unexpected results. So, before jumping to conclusions like it's HLGuard's wallhack block, people should re-look at the issue because it could very well be not HLGuard. I would look at what you set in your server.cfg and autoexec.cfg files first. There could very well be a setting in that server.cfg that is causing this issue.
