I would roll back to an earlier version of amxmodx and confirm that you are
using the latest version of metamod.\

Go into your server console and run these commands

meta list

amxx list

and post the results

[hlds_linux] CS Ads

2007-03-10 Thread Jordan Bagwell
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
The way I see it, server hosts have 3 options.

1. Quit hosting CS
2. Wait until a way has been found to defeat the ads. There are enough
geeks out there that play cs, it is only a matter of time until a way
is found to get the ads back out of the game.
3. Shut up and deal with it b/c we know that valve doesn't listen to us
anyway. Look at what they did to DoD:S
4. Might be possible for server hosts to sue but I'm no lawyer.

My .02

Thanks

[hlds_linux] Server vs Client

2007-01-18 Thread Jordan Bagwell

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Which Cvars win?

I was running a rateenforce plugin on our pub server to keep people from
rating but we changed hosts and now the plugin won't load correctly.. the
new version works but the rates are set too high. If I manually set the
server cvars to enforce min/max rates will the clients be forced to obey and
run the correct rates or will the clients be able to rate hack?

Updates are supposed to fix things... not break stuff that's been

Welcome to the world of extremely complex software ;)

I think I speak for all GSPs when I say that we'd like a server engine
that's stable and not full of programming worthy of windows.

Is that supposed to make you cool? LOLZ M$ WINBLOWZ

Maybe you guys need to fire some programmers.

Just for a little while, I'd love to feel the euphoric rush of
entitlement, authority, and historic insight that seems to be a constant
high for your ilk.

You know what Eric? Hlds has some major problems and I wanted some
answers. The rest of the guys on this list that responded were glad of
those answers. If you don't have anything to contribute then why the hell
don't you keep your mouth shut instead of engaging in immature childish

[hlds_linux] Question for Alfred

2006-01-14 Thread Jordan Bagwell

Alfred when are we going to have some fixes for these problems:

Random lag spikes in servers. These spikes are not due to connectivity
issues but something in the hlds engine itself.

The massive memory leaks

The Steam ID misassignment

Randomly dropping half the players in a full server.

Banner.gif for custom content hosting.

Not to mention all the problems with the source engine

hlds didn't have all these problems 6 months ago. Updates are supposed to
fix things... not break stuff that's been working fine.

[hlds_linux] Wrong Steam IDs (Help At Last)

2006-01-02 Thread Jordan Bagwell
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
I don't know if this has been mentioned already in the mailing list... if it
has please disregard. I am aware of valve's truly horrible programming in
the hlds engine that has the steam id's going from player to player. I have
heard horror stories from other GSPs about pubber players getting an admins
steam id and wreaking havoc on the server. However I seem to have found a
partial solution to the problem. I installed an amxx plugin that kicks
STEAM_ID_PENDING after 30 seconds. This seems to have fixed the
misassignment of ids by the server. The plugin is available in the amx mod
x forums. I do not know if a similar plugin exists for amx. (if you're
running amx you really should upgrade to amxx it's much much better).

Hope this helps you guys.

If you guys are done flaming each other perhaps someone knows a little bit

Hey I'm running the BAW clan dod server and I've seen these maps working
on other dod servers but they don't run properly on mine. The maps are
origonally hldm maps and have multiple spawn points like the_yard or
drive_in. The research I've done seems to indicate that I need to edit the
entity chunk of the .bsp files in question. The maps load fine in the dod
server environment but players don't spawn. Does anyone have a link to a
good tutorial or utility that can convert these maps for me? I've downloaded
several different versions from different map sites and the result is always
the same... I even tried to use the .bsp from a server that had mario_air
working and got the same result. Any help/ideas would be greatly
appreicated.
