RE: [hlds_linux] [HELP] CD-Proof hacks are in fact the safest vac2 hacks!!

2005-11-15 Thread Newbie
You should not post links to cheating sites in public places. Please submit
them directly to Valve instead ([EMAIL PROTECTED] will work fine for
you).
Second, why are you so sure about those cheats to be "VAC2 Proof"? You'll be
surprised to see how many users of "VAC2 Proof" cheats start whinning on
Steampowered forums about being banned by VAC for nothing...

There is a MOD for PsychoStats whith full support for UTF-8 available at
http://psmod.net .
The mod author works closely with Stormtrooper (author of Psychostats) and the
mod works really good (UTF-8 support is only one of many many enchancements).

You can take a look at my stats at http://www.cs-s.ru/stats to see the
implementation.

Cheers,

No, UTF-8 is always enabled (so everyone can use their native character set).
The
various processing tools need to be updated to support UTF-8 (which for most
cases
should be trivial).

Alfred,

I understand that, and actually my telnet does support UTF-8. I'm using Putty.
 What
I'm trying to explain is that the log files seem to not display this correctly,
either in HLSW, Psychostats, or other log parsers.

Is there a way to turn off the UTF-8 support?

That is a UTF-8 string, you need to get a telnet client that supports UTF-8
(most do
these days). We support fully localized names in the Source engine, it is very
useful
if your native tongue isn't english.

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]

I have a question directed more towards the developers over at Valve.

I can’t seem to recall it being that big of a problem in CS Source, however,
since
the release of Day of Defeat: Source, our server along with several other
servers
that we affiliate with have been seeing a rising trend in the use of ASCII
characters
and extended letters.

We are seeing names in the logs that look like this:

:ĶōĐ:РόҜΣСђΘṗ:..:

Now obviously, this is NOT the name of the person playing… instead they used
special letters that apparently the User Interface of the client of DoD source
supports, but the server side logging and what not do NOT. This will have a
direct
impact because of the use of Psychostats and other log parsers that read
through the
server log files to generate statistics and other valuable information.

In addition, there are several characters that cause the console on the Linux
side to
get royally messed up and even change to where nothing is readable and you have
to
close the console (i.e. restart the server) to get it fixed. Also, extra line
breaks
in the log files are also being seen adding to the mess.

Is there any way that we can either 1) limit the use of the extended ASCII
codes, or
2) add in support to the log files and console to actually support the
characters?

I know that for the most part we’re talking about a font issue… But it’s
causing some problems for server admins such as myself.

Thanks

-Pete

RE: [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source and Source Engine update

2005-04-06 Thread Newbie
Alfred,

In fact status is not always what's needed. Imagine a cheater or other abuse
on the server and the situation when admin cannot identify his name - that's
the real problem. Status command will show you the list of players, but
which one you need to kick?

Please consider that, may be the problem required some more priority than
originally assessed...

Newbie

A fix for a fix? Hmm, don't know if we are working on that. We have guys
working on the name double ups in the scoreboard, I don't know when they
will have a fix to deploy however. In the mean time use the "status"
command if you want the correct list.

be fixed? Quite annoying =\

[hlds_linux] SRCTVPORT problem

2005-04-06 Thread Newbie
I got a problem with srctvport cvar.
Regardless of what it's set to SrcTV host starts on port 27020.

Putting it into server.cfg before or after tv_enable 1, restartin the server
and changing the map doesn't help.

Does anyone know how to run SrcTV on port other than 27020?

Thanks in advance,
Newbie

RE: [hlds_linux] Ban list getting wiped

2005-03-27 Thread Newbie
If you want to have writeid in your server.cfg you need to put it AFTER exec
banned_user.cfg so that bans are first read into memory:

exec banned_user.cfg
writeid

I'm not sure why you would want writeid at all. If you are using a mod, it
should execute this after adding a ban to memory.

If you put "exec banned_user.cfg" in cstrike/cfg/autoexec.cfg, it will load
the banlist when the server starts and those bans will stay in memory until
the server quits, hence no need to put it in server.cfg (which is executed
after each mapchange).

If you ever execute "writeid" when there are no bans in memory, it will
overwrite the banned_user.cfg file with an empty one, which sounds like what
you are experiencing.

RE: [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source update

2005-03-24 Thread Newbie
Valve, please read,

There's a problem with last update. When a player selects Russian language
in Steam CS:S starts crashing once every 3-5 minutes.
Also Russian names in voice comm now unreadable, just as looking at Unicode
text in Windows encoding.

We have released an update to Counter-Strike: Source. Run the hldsupdatetool
to get this update.

This update adds the favorite buy system from Condition Zero to
Counter-Strike: Source and contains several fixes (in particular stopping
the "te" bug currently in the wild). More details can be found
at:
