[hlds_linux] Consoles playing with PCs in TF2

2007-10-12 Thread Ryan Schremp

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Again, I pose the question now that the game is released. Are Xbox 360s
using the same dedicated servers for gameplay as PCs? I found an interview
with Doug on IGN that suggests that cross-platform playing was done, but I
still don't know if that's just for LAN play, or if they're using our
servers.
>From the interview:
*Robin Walker*: So the Xbox one, we have people in on Xboxes, while you were
playing [referring to IGN] there's people playing on Xbox 360s.

*IGN: In that play session we just did? *

*Doug Lombardi*: Yeah there's always at least one guy, in there, that's an
Xbox 360 guy.

*IGN: So you're actually playing now on Xbox 360s connected to PCs? *

*Doug Lombardi*: Technically it's done.

My main point is, if you're going to ask for help, try not to be an ass. I
don't have anything to tell you because mine installed flawlessly and
everything is up and running with no problems whatsoever, but if someone
does have something that can help you, they're far less inclined to do so
when you act like a prick.

That's funny. My install went fine, and I'm up and running perfectly. My
retort isn't that it's a beta, it's that you whine too much.
Don't ask for help and bitch at the company that's giving you the ability to
run your server for what's already a very popular game.
Whine, whine, bitch moan. That'll get you tons of help, I'm sure.

[hlds_linux] Team Fortress 2 release

I was wondering if all the systems this game is releasing on are going to
use the same servers? I noticed in the config files for the tf2 there were
some files referencing Xbox 360 gamepad settings.
Anyone know?

I just downloaded that and have been playing around with it. It seems pretty

Wait a sec...is that what "rcon" means? Remote Console?
Man, I feel so daft.

I just started my dedicated server up with the release of the TF2 dedicated
server. I see that there are a handful of admin mods for managing a server
available. Anyone have any recommendations as to which is the best? Most
powerful?
Thanks in advance.

Re: [hlds_linux] Average monthly bandwidth usage.

2007-09-21 Thread Ryan Schremp

Ok, let's see. That's
200 * 60 = 12000k/min / 1024 = 11.72MB/min * 60 = 703.13MB/hr * 24 =
16,875MB/day * 30 = 506,250MB/month / 1024 = 494.38GB/month
70 * 60 = 4200k/min / 1024 = 4.1MB/min * 60 = 246.1MB/hr * 24 = 5,906MB/day
* 30 = 177,187.5MB/month / 1024 = 173GB/month
667.38GB/month total.

If I'm doing the math right here, I should be in the clear with 2TB/month of
allotted monthly bandwidth.

Hey, I've never run a dedicated server before, but just set one up for TF2.
I was wondering what the average bandwith usage I can expect to see on a
monthly basis for a server that stays pretty full pretty consistently at a
player cap of 24.
Thanks.
