exactly, this list has degenerated in the last year or 2 pretty badly, go to

trend.

I've bitched about his disrespect of newbish questions before, I'm getting
tired of these self-appointed gurus (when they were newbs once or really
still are) joining the list and then flaming people for asking simple
questions. You flame them, then others are less likely to ask any questions
at all and then it degrades the usefullness of the list itself.

just my 2 centavos anyways and now I am done on this topic for another 6
months to a year.

How about a nice boycott to Half Life2 server, if there is no client for
Linux?

It's for the good of the OS!
Valve has ignored us, it's saying that Linux is not any good for playing,
we
should tell them they are WRONG!

We won't run their servers anymore, until we can play on our favorite OS.
 Just because i don't have window$ i can't play their games?
So i won't run their servers either!

It's time to make a stand!
 Who's with me? :)

No, out of date documentation comes as a result of free software where
the
team making the software can't find a volunteer to update the readme

I used to (for a very brief period) lead the ClanMod doc team so I know
what that's like. I had a team of four and after running the team for
about two months, I had done 100% of the documenting on my own before I
gave up trying to keep up with the changes and the pressure to meet the
next release deadline. It's not easy getting these programs together.
It's
even less easy getting people who are willing to write. Everybody wants
to
be a 1337 coder and the docs suffer. You might offer to contribute if
you
  think you can help.

You only need read the files in some of the versions of CD, to see that
whoever is doing them is obviously not doing much.

I dont think its fair for all the 'RTFM' replies to people when for so
long now UA documentation has been lacking.

The way I see it is Docs are more important than a pretty website, than
irc channels, than sexy forums, they are the first thing a user will
read, its just understandable a lot of people dont even bother to read
 the UA docs anymore.

If people like Dave Sills can find the time to write documentation for
projects that are not even their own, a team the size of UA (A number of
who dont even hold fulltime jobs) should be able to find the time to
update a few docs now and then.

With 21 coordinators on their management list alone, I dont think the
people here who where expecting coordination were asking to0 much :)

Its not an attack of them, its just a countering view to yours, some
 food for thought.

Then again, I suppose I could just set a filter up to

That would probably be a good idea, becuse then I can keep

Like the subject says, QUIT YOUR BITCHING! You all remind me of
that Flash cartoon about the kid creating 'L337zor-Strike'. If
you think you can do better than Valve, by all means, GO AHEAD.
But the fact is, you can't (or at least, won't). I'm pretty
damn sure that Valve is trying as hard as they can! It's much
easier to write code [Hacks] to defeat a KNOWN set of tests
[VAC], than to write code [VAC] to find an UNKNOWN set of
exploits [Hacks]. If you guys would sit down and actually try
to find HOW these cheats work, and submit THAT to the list
instead of random bitching, maybe something would actually get
accomplished! The fact is, nobody other than the CD developers
are doing anything other than random, idiotic, unhelpful
complaining. And you know what... the CD developers informed
Valve that they had methods to HELP, and Valve allowed them to
get CD to work with their software. So unless you f**king
bitchers actually find something helpful, shut the F*$ UP! We
all know there are cheaters out there. Duh! Try and help the
situation, don't add to it. And honestly, there have actually
been very few on my servers lately, which are very obvious to
pick out and ban manually, as always. Meanwhile, VAC is
continuing to detect cheaters on my servers every couple of
days (including the 21st). So, in summary, constructive
criticism is the only type of post that is going to get
anything done; stop bitching at people for not doing things
which you do not know how to do either! Eric, let me appologize
on behalf of the entire community, and also say thank you,
which they do not seem to know how to do.

Re: [hlds_linux] [OT] psychostats query

2002-07-09 Thread THC_Vaporizer LL

That warning indicates a line that PsychoStats cannot recognize. This
started up for me right after the new version of CS came out. You can
correct the problem with the ignorelines.cfg file. The ignorelines.cfg file
allows you to instruct PsychoStats to ignore 'unknown' lines. By default
PsychoStats assumes it knows everything about your log files. However, due
to 3rd party plugins, etc. There are often times a lot of lines PsychoStats
does not know how to handle. And when PsychoStats see's a line that it
doesn't understand it generates a warning to let you know about the error.
