[hlds_linux] Overflow hack? or just me?

2002-10-02 Thread Zachary H. Sloane

Has anyone else noticed any of this? About 5 times tonite, everyone
(EVERYONE) in my server overflowed, i was in it TWICE when it happened. One
time one guy was like, Ok, this is gay, bye bye server. Then i overflowed,
as well as everyone else. So i'm assuming he's using something that did
that? I'm using admin mod AM v25026a, SM v2.6.4, MM and HLG 1.20. Windows
box (althought i don't think it matters). and the server is NOT crashing,
just players overflowing...anyone have any clue?

[hlds_linux] Beta Security Modules

2002-08-30 Thread Zachary H. Sloane

How much longer until the Beta Security Modules are ready for public
release. Because I rent my servers and can't put the -testmodule line in my
bootup. And I can't stand listening to how many people you guys have caught
while i sit here and get BS'ed by cheaters :(

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
That's a good question, but it doesn't affect my servers. I'm checking my
logs for any new catches and manually baning them. I have no tolerance, and
with a reported over 70K+ CS players, I don't think I'll ever care about
100-200 cheaters being perm-banned from my boxen. Good riddance. I've yet
to have one email saying it was a false positive, and I'm pretty sure my
response would be "Too bad, go play somewhere else."

Origional Message:

Yes, I've read that post too...
It sais that it's not instant but the guy will likely be banned by
morning (which I would assume would be 8-12h max).

But if you check the timestamps on those 2 entries I sent you will see
that they are 18h+ apart, which IMO would be well above "instantness".
And he is still trying to connect, eg
L0830016.log:L 08/30/2002 - 19:41:16: Secure:
"[APE]InVisiBLE<1229><652533><>" was detected cheating and dropped from
the server.
That is almost 24h later... apparently still not banned.

How many days is it supposed to take before they get banned?
If it works at all right now it seems to take longer to actually get
banned then the penalty itself (24h).
