Re: [hlds_linux] Alien Swarm Linux Server?

2010-07-24 Thread Logan Rogers-Follis
I may have to consider WINE or I may just let those who want to play in
my group host the game themselves...I will have to talk with the other
Steam Group admins about it :) Though no matter what I can't wait for
native Linux :D

Question is last I saw there is only Windows files for a dedicated
server. Any plans for a Linux version? I run CentOS only for my gaming
servers.

I'm running it in Linux using Wine, works without a problem, except that
I can't figure out how to associate the server with a steam group; specified
the group ID but it doesn't show up, so I have to connect directly.

I'd prefer a native Linux server as well, but until then, Wine is better
than nothing...

Re: [hlds_linux] Alien Swarm Linux Server?

2010-07-24 Thread KawMAN
I'm using Wine too. Server is not showing up in Steam Group Servers
and Internet tab because it don't have master servers. If you want to
fix that to swarm/cfg/newmapsettings.cfg add
setmaster add 72.165.61.153:27015
setmaster add 216.207.205.98:27011
setmaster add 216.207.205.99:27011
Note that is a Europe MasterServers and i don't know if you have same.
To check run Server via Steam and in console type
setmaster without any paramters.

newmapsettings.cfg is something like server.cfg in Alien Swarm server,
server.cfg is useless.

I played it yesterday for the first time and also found several
compelling reasons to run a few servers (on Linux of course).

So please Valve, make server binaries available for Linux.

Most of us also have compilers, but I'm still unclear on the terms under
which the source code was made available to us.
