Oh, that's what you'd get if you'd asked in the appropriate places to begin with rather than selfishly tossing your stuff out where you want lead Valve developers to stop what they're doing and help you fix your network via basic troubleshooting you should be able to do in your sleep with a hang-over. [hlds_linux] Losing net connection when I refresh the server list
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] This is no joke. I am temporarily losing net connection when I refresh the Server browser list. I can play a game fine, until I want to refresh the server browser. This occurs from the ingame browser and the steam browser. If using the ingame browser I actually lose connection to the current game. This is a fresh WinXP SP2 install, all updates installed. Firewall is on, and I just tried adding all of Steam to the firewall exceptions list and it still does it. I never noticed the problem before, but I rarely play on anyone elses server but my own, so I usually just goto Favorites and join my server. Any help would be appreciated. ya know what, if you cant help then don't respond. Posting on these lists generally (your case excluded) gets a quicker, better and more accurate response then using the troll infested Steam Forums, which seems to be where you belong. It also means that Alfred will see it, and he or someone at Valve may have a solution. This isn't a hlds/srcds question, and he's right that it probably should be taken to the forums. Valve developers also check the forums. There's no need to take the simple reply and turn it into a flame war. On 10/28/05, Dagok [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ya know what, if you cant help then don't respond. Re: [hlds_linux] Losing net connection when I refresh the server list
The most common cause of disconnect or feeze when you refresh a server list is your router. Try bypassing the router and see if you still have the same problem. Some router firmware versions can cause this, there are also some bad routers (actiontec for sure). One solution is to lower the steam connection rate. - Original Message - From: Craig Moore [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Sent: Friday, October 28, 2005 10:29 PM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Losing net connection when I refresh the server list This isn't a hlds/srcds question, and he's right that it probably should be taken to the forums.
