You should still put up an updated version on the site for
download. Having to start one to move to the other with a complete
different command syntax is not how it should be.

[hlds_linux] Update tool out of date?

2004-12-01 Thread Wesley Haines
Hello list,

Is the hldsupdatetool.bin file available at
 out-of-date?
When I first setup a CS:S server a few weeks ago, I
ran ./hldsupdatetool.bin which then extracted the steam binary. However,
it would not accept any of the newer ./steam syntax:

./steam --help (copy from hldsupdatetool.bin)
[snip]
 Install or update HLDS:
-update[ [Y]]
 Y => remember password

I then found a copy from Japje at
 and extracted the
steam.tar.gz file...

./steam --help
[snip]
 update: Install or update HLDS
   parameters:
-game - Mod name: cstrike, tfc, dod, dmc, valve, czero, or
ricochet
  -dir - HLDS Install dir

...this is obviously a newer version of the steam binary that seems to
work fine. Am I doing something wrong, or can somebody get
hldsupdatetool.bin updated on the Steam website?

Thanks in advance!
