The problem with the statsme knifekill script is due to the line length being too long due to long playernames. The symptoms of the problem with knifekill do not show up as a server crash but rather the problem is that the hl.exe client crashes. I simply shortened ALL the text messages and knifekill rarely crashes clients now.
