Re: [hlds_linux] Test linux steam binaries

2012-08-23 Thread Brian Simon
I had a really weird crash when I started a server with the new steam
binaries yesterday. It deadlocked the system and all clients that tried to
connect crashed. I'll get more info if I see it again.

2012-08-23 Thread Daniel .
MvM servers are still crashing with this binaries.
On server 1 it seems to be paired with a Round_Start event and the last log

Is this update intended to fix crashes on level restart votes, or only
level loads? Because I just had my server crash a few minutes ago from a
restart vote while using the new binaries.

Re: [hlds_linux] Test message

2012-06-13 Thread Jesse Molina

Confirmed it was borked, now fixed.

From the original test message:

X-Spam-Status: No, score=2.5 required=4.8 tests=AWL,BAYES_50,RDNS_NONE,
SPF_FAIL,SPF_HELO_FAIL,T_DKIM_INVALID autolearn=disabled version=3.3.2
X-Spam-Score: 2.5

Now:

X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.2 required=4.8 tests=AWL,BAYES_05,

RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED,SPF_HELO_PASS,SPF_PASS,T_DKIM_INVALID,T_RP_MATCHES_RCVD
autolearn=disabled version=3.3.2
X-Spam-Score: -2.2

FYI I have a custom rule that raises the penalty for SPF failures, but
the default isn't as extreme, so this probably wasn't actually stopping
most people from getting any mail if they were using a regular
SpamAssassin setup.

I dont get your point, why whine about the quality of the messages? You can

I've been on this list for about ten years or so. Yes, I joined the list
in 2000 or 2001, back when I ran a humble 6 player OZ server.

The only real change I have seen over the years in the quality of the
messages on this list is the amount of whining and complaining from the
list Nazis over the quality of messages on this list.

When a legitimate question is asked, we get lots of high quality
answers. When a troll comes along we have fun roasting them. When
someone with a mouth and bad attitude comes a long, we have fun telling
him to grow up. When an off topic subject comes along, we have fun
discussing it and we learn.

Remember the "Post your server pics" Topics I used to run once a year?
We got to see some interesting pics of what everyone's servers looked
like, everything from impressive data-center racks to my OP4 server in a
cardboard box because I didn't have a spare case for it, and all kinds
of stuff in between.

I shudder to think what the list Nazis would make of the THAT were I to
dare doing something so horridly off-topic.

Grow up, people. It's a GAME, for cryin' out loud

*No - It is gmail's filter because the setting is defaulted to YES.

Receive your own posts to the list?*

Ordinarily, you will get a copy of every message you post to the list. If
you don't want to receive this copy, set this option to *No*.

Even more, legit reason may be that this person may have the list email
him a receipt whenever he posts a message. He would need to "Post" a
test message to check if his "Filters" where moving this into the
correct folder. This helps him notice if he is sending out viruses and
other stuff like this.

RE: [hlds_linux] test: windows vs freebsd

2003-09-30 Thread Joe Giles
Oh, then that's bad on his system... I was comparing % free on my W2K3
server and my Red Hat server and got similar results on Office 16 ppl. On my
W2K3 system, system wide CPU Utilization is about 10 to 12 % (Except when my
stats.pl runs for psychostates :-D). On my Red Hat System, same map and ppl,
I show between 79% and 82% idle (which is about 18% to 21% utilization on
Linux) This is all on ONE cpu, leaving the rest of that CPU and a whole
other CPU to sit there and crunch NAT, Apache, Qmail, and system functions.
So the Linux binary does run a little hotter, but not that much difference
for an average server admin to really worry about. Weird thing is my clients
say when I run the server on Windows, the environment seems just as smooth
as Linux, but the game play is a little slower... I have yet to figure this
out.

I suppose if you were the type that was running HLDS server for a profit,
then every CPU tick is money, but for the average 90% of the rest of us, it
seem just fine... Well, to me anyway.

Thanks for the clarification :)

Joe

It's not percentage free. Here is a sample output from top on FreeBSD.

PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZERES STATE C TIME WCPUCPU COMMAND
  440 gs10 0 101M 98496K nanslp 1 992:44 34.47% 34.47% hlds_amd

 2626 gs10 0 98336K 93392K RUN0 241:59 26.03% 26.03% hlds_amd
This is a dual AMD MP 2400+. The "C" column is the processor, and the CPU% is
well, the CPU usage. :)

RE: [hlds_linux] Test (delete on receipt)

2002-08-02 Thread Eric (Deacon)

The email I sent was in plain text. The little filter thingy Leon put
on the list is certifiable.

Hi!

At 11:24 28.06.2002 -0700, you wrote:

I just wanted to let you know, that the update seems to do a good job.
I'm not sure if the problem you described only affects servers with more
than 20 players. I'm just running a little linux server for 16 players,
no one got caught cheating for a few weeks now. This changed on Friday when
your update came out. I cannot report any difficulties, the server is running
stable.
