Yanno, first time my new box has crashed was playing on my server after I updated VAC to the new beta module.. but that is only once. :| I was on prodigy, with an m4. It's great how VALVe is keeping on top of this stuff. That problem with Linux servers was just discovered a very short time ago and it's already fixed.
