[HNV] The Good News According to Yochanan 20, World English Bible: Messianic Edition
[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Good News According to Yochanan, Chapter 20 {20:1} Now on the first day of the week, Miriam Magdalene went early, while it was still dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb. {20:2} Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Yeshua loved, and said to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have laid him! {20:3} Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb. {20:4} They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first. {20:5} Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn't enter in. {20:6} Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying, {20:7} and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. {20:8} So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed. {20:9} For as yet they didn't know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. {20:10} So the disciples went away again to their own homes. {20:11} But Miriam was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb, {20:12} and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Yeshua had lain. {20:13} They told her, Woman, why are you weeping? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have laid him. {20:14} When she had said this, she turned around and saw Yeshua standing, and didn't know that it was Yeshua. {20:15} Yeshua said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for? She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away. {20:16} Yeshua said to her, Miriam. She turned and said to him, [1]Rabboni[1]! which is to say, Great Teacher! {20:17} Yeshua said to her, Don't hold me, for I haven't yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' {20:18} Miriam Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her. {20:19} When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Judeans, Yeshua came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace be to you. {20:20} When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord. {20:21} Yeshua therefore said to them again, Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. {20:22} When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit! {20:23} If you forgive anyone's sins, they have been forgiven them. If you retain anyone's sins, they have been retained. {20:24} But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn't with them when Yeshua came. {20:25} The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe. {20:26} After eight days again his disciples were inside, and Thomas was with them. Yeshua came, the doors being locked, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you. {20:27} Then he said to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don't be unbelieving, but believing. {20:28} Thomas answered him, My Lord and my God! {20:29} Yeshua said to him, Because you have seen me,[2] you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed. {20:30} Therefore Yeshua did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book; {20:31} but these are written, that you may believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. Footnotes: [1] {20:16} Rabboni is a transliteration of the Hebrew word for great teacher. [2] {20:29} TR adds Thomas, The World English Bible: Messianic Edition is in the Public Domain. [HNV] 1Kings 16, World English Bible: Messianic Edition
[EMAIL PROTECTED] The First Book of Kings, starting at chapter 16 {16:1} The word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, {16:2} Because I exalted you out of the dust, and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins; {16:3} behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. {16:4} The dogs will eat Baasha's descendants who die in the city; and he who dies of his in the field the birds of the sky will eat. {16:5} Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? {16:6} Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his place. {16:7} Moreover by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD against Baasha, and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him. {16:8} In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah for two years. {16:9} His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah: {16:10} and Zimri went in and struck him, and killed him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place. {16:11} It happened, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he struck all the house of Baasha: he didn't leave him a single one [1]who urinates on a wall,[1] neither of his relatives, nor of his friends. {16:12} Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet, {16:13} for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned, and with which they made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. {16:14} Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? {16:15} In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines. {16:16} The people who were encamped heard say, Zimri has conspired, and has also struck the king: therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp. {16:17} Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah. {16:18} It happened, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the castle of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died, {16:19} for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin. {16:20} Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he committed, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? {16:21} Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri. {16:22} But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned. {16:23} In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel for twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah. {16:24} He bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, Samaria. {16:25} Omri did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him. {16:26} For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. {16:27} Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? {16:28} So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his place. {16:29} In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. {16:30} Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. {16:31} It happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife
