[Hornlist] Putting the pitch way up there redux.
I pulled out a commercial digital CD recording of somebody or other playing horn some months ago, and was surprised to find the pitch WAY off standard. This was common in the days of tape mastering, but with digital recording, it means that some studio engineers or producers or whatever got in there and 'tweaked' the data to raise the pitch, perhaps to 'brighten' the sound. I wish they wouldn't do that. Anybody know of this kind of thing? Yes, all 4 Mozart concertos with Norbert Hauptmann Simon Rattle conductin, old LP, but two of the concertos were more than a quarter tone up. == -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Robert Dickow Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2006 8:00 PM To: 'The Horn List' Subject: [Hornlist] Putting the pitch way up there redux. [Hornlist] Pro-Oil by MusiCHEM, VALVE OIL
Musi Chem is a company out of San Diego . I called asking some uneducated questions about chemistry and was politely given the proper explanations. I had been using SpaceFiller which I found to be a little heavy feeling in the horn( my explanation). I tried his Rotor oil and I am very happy. I just have to be careful and cannot use too much..(my last question to David on the phone). I have been using it for two months and I think it is an excellent product. I also use the slide grease which is the most advanced grease I have ever used. (hetmann is like some sort of grease out of a grease gun). I am not sponsored by them sure looks like it though Their website has some pretty sick looking graphs that convinced me.
