Re: [Hornlist] Das Horn bei Mozart
I have used Lulu to purchase several books from a narrow non-musical field of interest that I have, and have found the result be perfectly satisfactory. I was suspicious at first, but have no complaints. I have no idea, however, how it looks from the authors side of the matter. You might look into it , Hans. I would certainly purchase a copy. I haven't used it myself, but if I understand correctly you just have to upload the text file and customers can order copies to be printed on-demand. The price-per unit seems reasonable. Kit I tried that, but the outcome was a preorder of just 32 copies. I have the same problem when I conduct. But I only have complaints when there is a symbol clash in the percussion section. [Hornlist] RE: Auf dem strom etc.
Steve B wrote I seem to remember in one of the Radio Lab stories a mention of how many of= the great composers had perfect pitch (and what of synethsesia?). * I don't know if this is the program you mean, but Radio Lab ran a fascinating piece involving absolute pitch. Evidently those who speak tone languages like Chinese can develop absolute pitch much more easily than the rest of us. http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/episodes/2007/09/25 I remember hearing that Alexander Glazunov had absolute pitch. But he learned his absolute pitch when he was young. When he was older, concert pitch had risen. When he conducted, he complained because of the clash between the pitch he was hearing in the score and the pitch he was hearing from the orchestra.
