John Dutton's recent Horn List email mentioned Damrosch. That brought back memories of Grammar school in the late twentys or early thirties when the whole school went to the auditorium every Friday to hear Walter Damrosch's radio program. The school then owned 1 radio, 1 record player (78 rpm) and 1 35mm record player.
In Damrosch's programs he would have several players play a few bars so that we could identify different instruments by their sound.
