Hello Daniel, silver plating is cost intensive as the horn has to be dismantled polished first, then degreased plated (at least 15 micron strong) remantled. Should be in the range of 500 - 600 EUR. You have the choice between shiny matt. If you use a micro fibre towel (2 pcs. For 2.- EUR at the supermarket) to clean finger prints, the plating will last forever. Sound can become a bit brither perhaps, - or you just play brighter because of the silver colored horn. Intonation does not shift. You like your pretious instrument better care better, resulting in a better horn because no dents no other harm. === -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Daniel Canarutto Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2007 1:59 PM To: The Horn List Subject: RE: [Hornlist] Looking for other Pizka horns Would it make sense silver plating a Rauch horn (unlaquered)? You have the choice of getting it matt or shiny plated. The plating must be at least 15 micr. Strong. If you clean away fingerprints during intermissions after playing using a micro fibre cloth, the plating will last very long. Yes, the sound could be just a bit brighter then perhaps. [Hornlist] Looking for other Pizka horns
Hello, list. I purchased an older Pizka a few months back. I really like it, but...for a variety of reasons I'm considering getting it silver-plated, like Mr. Pizka's current horns. I'd like to play a silver Pizka a bit before I more seriously consider the process on my own horn. I live in the New York area, but I travel a bit, especially around the northeast. If you might be gracious enough to let me visit you and your horn, please contact me. Please reply OFF-LIST, thank you. --Jennifer-Catherine Ludlow [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or [EMAIL PROTECTED]) ___ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
