I'll admit it) posted to this list to the music librarian's list and one of
the members sent me this pointer towards the full FAQ

If you have ever had any dealings with the folks in Oz, you really wouldn't
be surprised.  I think that there is a certain devil may care attitude to
lots of societal norms built into the Aussie psyche.
