Re: AW: [Hornlist] Atterberg Sonata Op.27 + Brahms
Hi Hans, Thanks for your reply. It isn't a period orchestra, but a small chamber orchestra. When we play works from the classical period we always use natural horns. The next concert is Beethoven, Mendelssohn and the Brahms. We've eventually settled on natural horns for the Beethoven and Mendelssohn and valves for the Brahms. Hello Lawrence, First question: period instrument orchestra Answer A: if yes, bring the handhorn along, but not all crooks, just those needed. Brahms did not fool around with foul transpositions. But you knew that by yourself, I am sure. If we get older, we oversee the most simple things more often than we did when younger, right ! Answer B: if no, leave the handhorn at home == -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 7:09 PM To: horn@music.memphis.edu Subject: Re: AW: [Hornlist] Atterberg Sonata Op.27 + Brahms I'm quite prepared to take two horns and a box of crooks if need be, but I'm not sure whether or not the violin concerto parts were intended to be played on natural or valve horns. Why not taking two horns for a special program ? We had to take double, descant & tuba to the studio often. That´s life. == -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, November 10, 2008 7:29 PM To: horn@music.memphis.edu Subject: Re: AW: [Hornlist] Atterberg Sonata Op.27 or if the rest of the programme is definitely natural horn and I don't want to have to take two!
