Try going to www.jwpepper.com. They have a lot of good music. Also, you can
ask your teacher where the school gets their music from.

A friend of mine is leading a brass quintet in our school. We are looking
for some music and don't really know where to head. I really want to do a
jazzy piece. Also, if anyone knows where to get Rakes of Mallow that
would be exciting (especially if it comes in quintet form!) If anyone has
any recommendations of where to look or of pieces to try I'd really
 appreciate it.

Hi Ashley,

Try the Robert King collection. The last time I checked, they had over
25,000 titles.

RE: [Hornlist] Quintet Music

2008-06-16 Thread Steve Freides
I bought a collection put out by the Canadian Brass and was very pleased.
It was inexpensive (I think the conductor's score was $12 and the parts were
$6 each). I believe they have collections for different levels - I bought
an Intermediate level collection.

You can try this link to get your started at one online place

http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_brassquintet.html?id=288755

This is where I've ended up buying most of my music online lately. Here's a
link to the collection I bought directly:

http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?item=3198458id=288755

This is wedding music but we used it for a college graduation ceremony and
it was great - not too hard, perfect since we did the gig with no rehearsal
and were all therefore sight-reading.

Disclaimer - the id= is an affiliate ID I have with this place, which
means they pay me a small commission on music you purchase via the above
links. The links work equally well without that last part.

Hope that's helpful to you.

Re: [Hornlist] Quintet Music

2008-06-16 Thread jeremy
I've been recording a brass quintet for the past couple months with
the primary purpose being that the lead trumpet player recording his
arrangements for brass quintet. The arrangements have been quite
good. They range in difficulty from moderate to fairly difficult but
overall are leaps and bounds above the average quintet writing. (and
the prices are reasonable too..)

The arranger's site is:
http://www.trumpetunes.com/publications.html

FYI -
I have no affiliation with this site or the arranger. I've just been
doing his recordings. I'm sure if he approves it, I can release some
mp3 samples.

Cheers-
Jeremy
