Re: [Hornlist] Descant horn Concerto
Have a look here: http://www.corno.de/english/barock_horn_concertos.htm They provide a preview of part of the score, and in some cases an audio sample as well (Most concertos from Barry Tuckwell's baroque concertos recording can be found here) Almost all baroque music will be easy on the ears of the audience, provided you don't clam too much ;) 2007/11/23, Mathew James [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hey list, I am hoping for the usual knowledgeable insight you all provide. Here is my situation, I am currently developing my facility on descant horn, and have shied away from baroque horn music. My teacher and I decided to recital a barqoue concerto that I would in turn play on Descant. I am looking for suggestions on a concerto difficulty is not a major concern, Really I am looking for something listener friendly, flashy and just full of energy and life. -- Mathew James ___ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/mvdl%40evonet.be ___ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
RE: [Hornlist] Descant horn
I've had many requests for a picture of this instrument, so here is one http://herrick.huntingdon.edu/hornalex.htm I do have an Alex descant for sale (posted these a while back -- a colleague passed away and I'm helping the widow sell horns). This certainly isn't a new Alex, and its' compensating. If anyone is interested I can send pictures. ___ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org

Giulio Ceasare - Handel Bach Cantatas such as Gott, der Herr, ist Sonn und Schild Baroque Horn Concerti such as the Knechtl Brandenburg nr. 1, Bach B minor mass... Those are just a few - of course there's more works - but those are the ones I can think off at the moment! Re: [Hornlist] descant horn
Paul, not only for these works. There are delicate high arias in some of Mozart dramatic works or in Haydns sinfonias or in pre-classic symphonic works, which can be played on the double horn easily, but sound much better if a descant horn is used, as the sound is thinner. But, one has to know, how to make a descant horn sound nice sweet make it sing. This is not easy needs a lot of experience. = -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul Rincon Sent: Friday, July 08, 2005 6:12 PM To: The Horn List Subject: Re: [Hornlist] descant horn Giulio Ceasare - Handel Bach Cantatas such as Gott, der Herr, ist Sonn und Schild Baroque Horn Concerti such as the Knechtl Brandenburg nr. 1, Bach B minor mass...
